(CBS News) There are not many of us left who covered the assassination of John Kennedy, but only those of us who were alive before that awful weekend can really know how much it changed America.
We had been a confident nation. We had won World War II. We believed in our leaders. We came to see our presidents as all but invincible.
Because of television, we had come to know John Kennedy and his family more intimately than any of his predecessors.
Then, in a matter of seconds, he was killed by a madman.

It’s very debatable that the 16th Amendment was actually ratified.
Other than that, the 16th, 17th, and 19th Amendments were constitutional though regrettable.
The $3 trillion unconstitutional portion of the feds which has become totalitarian is why we’re on the brink of America’s disappearance.
Let’s deal with the unconstitutional stuff to restore our Free Constitutional Republic. That’s more productive than whining about a few stupid amendments (even though wouldn’t’ it be nice if a true challenge was made against the 16th Amendment because of lack of ratification).
Look, if the feds were under constitutional limitation as they are legally mandated, even the 16ht Amendment wouldn’t be that big a deal besue the fed’s size would be WAY DOWN.
America’s “Crossing the Rubicon” moment
No certified coroners performed the autopsy. They were three Navy pathologists that were called in to conduct the autopsy.
That happened a few years later in 1968 when Bobby Kennedy was murdered by a Palestinian immigrant.

Was he? I find it bizarre that his family denies Sirhan killed their father.
Some things never change.
Yeah. And isn’t it strange that laws were not followed that required the autopsy to be performed in Texas. They whisked his still warm body away to DC because Shut Up.
He was instrumental in the whole thing.
What actually changed America was the 1962 ruling pushing God out of public life. Almost immediately, things began to change for the worse and fall apart, a trend that continues to this day.
America lost its innocence when JFK died?
What a maudlin piece of Political Left crap!
Kennedy stole the 1960 election from Nixon with massive voter fraud in Chicago and massive voter fraud in LBJ's home state of Texas.
In 1956, Eisenhower and Nixon won Illinois by almost 20%.
In 1956, Eisenhower and Nixon won Texas by 11%.
Sixty-three years later, the GOP has still not figured out how to stop voter fraud.
I would go back further. The election of 1912 and Woodrow Wilson.
And somehow after the "autopsy" at the then named Bethesda Naval Hospital, JFK's brain disappeared, and no one to this day knows where it ended up. Some claim Bobby confiscated it, but no one knows for sure. How does the brain of a 20th Century President disappear?
The book “NEMISIS” (life of Aristotle Onassis). Is rather conclusive as to who arranged the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. It wasn’t politics, it was lust for Jackie Kennedy. Months before there was a major exchange between Onassis and RFK. RFK said to Onassis, “you will marry her over my dead body” . RFK was shot in June of 1968, the strange marriage between her and Onassis was October, 1968.

“he was killed by a madman”
Mockingbird Media is still going strong with the coverup—six decades later.
That is the most important lesson of the assassination.
I was in college when it happened. What people don’t get is that was the beginning of our beginning to “doubt” and “understand” government is not a kindly big brother. (Read Roger Stone’s Book).
Well, if you want to go back, try unwisely-popular Teddy Roosevelt, the guy who loved government and taxes and the great influence behind the obnoxious and questionably ratified 16th Amendment.
But FDR shredded the Constitution and overturned our Free Constitutional Republic. For awhile the illegally-created beast lay mostly dormant.
Then Obama came along, woke up the beast, and give it new teeth.
JFK was a solid part of the decline, we live in much of his dream world of open borders unionized federal employees, closed-down mental hospitals, affirmative action, and a sordid degraded White House.
“ Cuter wife too.”
JFK’s wife set the example for air head!
“Madman”? Or planned man? A buddy and I just pulled into our HS parking lot from lunch and heard the news. We ran in told classmates and nobody believed us. For about 10 minutes.
...or simply a lone-lunatic?
