Oops, wrong movie title. That one was, “From Dusk till Dawn”.

It’s a great suspense thriller. Especially when you find out about the budget and shooting schedule. And it did so much for Spielberg he reused the truck dying sound for the shark in Jaws, and probably has snuck it in for other movies. Said it was good luck.

I didn't know that. I did read that he used and electronically altered many sound effects for Close Encounters. That is one of the best Sci-fi movies ever, if not the best. I didn't care much for ET...too sappy.

Tarantino made “From Dusk till Dawn” to live out his fantasy involving Selma Hayek and her feet. Everything else was just a cover.

...that is why he [Quentin Tarantino] is the most original writer, producer, director, story-teller of modern cinema.

He's one of the few script writers who is influenced by what he read versus his peers who were mostly influenced by what they saw.

Unfortunately for him and his audiences, his movies, no matter how well written, can't exceed the source of his inspiration - pulp fiction novels (instead of full literary works).

‘That one was, “From Dusk till Dawn”.’

The guy with the pistol in his crotch was Tom Savini, the special effects wizard.

Any movie with Julia Roberts is the worst movie ever.

I appreciate the willingness of whoever made up the list to go after some popular franchises and actors, but those aren’t the worst movies ever made. There are a lot more terrible movies out there that hardly anybody knows about (for good reason).

I really hated the Natalie Portman movie with the crew of all-woman astronauts or whatever they were (it took me a while to remember that it was called “Annihilation” and that her name isn’t “Natalie Portnoy”). I wouldn’t say it was one of the worst movies of all time, though. It was just bad.

“Remains of the Day” was easily the most depressing movie I ever walked out of. Makes you want to suck start a S&W

“ By far, the worst of all time was “Duel.”

I love that movie.

By far, the worst of all time was “Duel.”

I loved Duel. I once drove a '72 Dodge Dart quite similar to the Plymouth Valiant in the movie - couldn't imagine trying to avoid a killer trucker in it, could hardly get out of its own way. For the simple plot it was quite dramatic - never did know why the trucker was trying to kill Dennis Weaver. The movie was adapted from a story by Richard Matheson IIRC, so it has good bloodlines.

At least in The Counselor there was a woman having sex with a Ferrari or was it a Porsche ? That was a wild scene.

I was a kid when I saw that, it was pretty Campy, I just saw that Joanna Pettit is now 80, she was gorgeous in that film. And Ursula Andress in was in it to.

Tarantino is certainly a student of cinema; that has been placed on display on talk shows. I’m less sure he is trying to manipulate the audience so much as he is trying to entertain. He does so by telling stories that are entertaining to him; I think he has a blast making his movies. And he often works with the same actors because they get what he is doing and enjoy contributing.

To be sure, his work is not for everyone. His films are not even all for me. I have yet to get more than 30 minutes into The Hateful Eight without falling asleep. OTOH, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Inglourious Basterds are great fun. There is no doubt that a substantial focus for him is cinema violence as an art form.

Even so, I still wonder how someone can conclude as Flavious did. If it is a valid criticism I would prefer to skip those films, but I need to know what they are. I suspect it is imagined or there would probably have been an answer.

I nominate Thelma and Louise.

It should have been titled “Two Really Stupid Women”, but they didn’t want to give away that the ‘stars’ were typecast. It’s only redeeming scene is when they drive off of the cliff. And it is a horrible injustice to any and all viewers that they do not show them hitting the ground.
