Wise choice.
American film, OK
No one has mentioned “Elvira Madigan” for worst foreign film, let me be the first.
A film about a man and a woman who spend two hours staring at each other, speaking Swedish, and then the man shoots the woman and commits suicide.
We went as a family when I was a teenager. By the end, all the women in the theater were sobbing, my Dad and I had burst out laughing and were asked to leave,
Vive la différence, I suppose.
Completely insane. Duel is a masterpiece.
One good thing to come from that trainwreck was the excellent book "The Devil's Candy" by Julie Salamon.
Highly recommended.
It did....BUT, for a 1951 movie there were some hidden messages about their relationship being a bit more than platonic. I gathered they’d already fallen into the sack.
Come to think of it, The Net was pretty awful.
THIS.
And if I may I'd add anything with gwyenth goop paltrow in it.
Aaaand now “Puberty Love” is going to torment my brain all day. 😬
Almost lost my coffee on that one. I'm gonna have to borrow that phrase.
I’d add The Fifth Element to that list. A most annoying movie.
FLASHBACK with Dennis Hopper and Keifer Sutherland. I was in the film and still came watch the whole thing more than once.
I’d add The Fifth Element to that list. A most annoying movie.
~~~
I disagree about Fifth Element.
This movie is not an an academy award candidate. Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich are not heavyweight dramatists. Almost all the characters or quirky in blatant ways, and in a way I think it’s the Luc Besson’s way of critiquing the future as a part of continuous slide of humanity (a la idiocracy), so if you can get past all of the overtly exaggerated character types, the movie has a lot of decent action to it.
You’ve Got Mail
Vanilla Sky
The Stepford Wives
Based on WHAT by WHO???
"American Beauty" definitely belongs on that list. I had to sit through the whole movie because I was a guest, but otherwise, I would have walked out in the first five minutes. I haven't seen "Brokeback Mountain" and never will.
That one is so bad that it's entertaining.
That deserves to be on the list. Watching that stupid and pointless movie was a waste of my time.
Not one of those movies known for impressive camera work but instead highly regarded for its 82 minutes of exceptional dialog. A few hundred years and it should be required reading.
“****!”
“**** you, you ****ing **** ****ers!”
“Noooo! ****...”
“****! ****! ****!”
“****ing lost?!?!?”
“****!”
Reminds me of renting a movie back in the early VHS days when I asked the clerk to recommend something. They said there was a great movie that won a bunch of awards called My Life As a Dog. Whoa. They obviously played a joke on us because we didn’t make it through 10 minutes of it. Deserved it I guess.
