How could she get a Moderna vaccine in February 2020? The first Covid vaccine (the Pfizer one) was only approved in December, 2020 and was originally rationed to high-risk groups. Maybe you meant February, 2021?

You just explained what a virus does. That SARS-CoV-2 virus forces cells all over your body to produce vast quantities of spike protein, as well as the other 28 virus proteins, RNA genome, and mRNAs. These are assembled into infectious virus particles. Every cell that is forced to become a virus factory ends up dying when the new viruses force their way out. Viruses will keep on forcing cells to make spike and 28 other proteins for as long as it takes the immune system to develop a response. Which takes around two weeks. Even after your immune system finally starts to clear the virus, there are areas in your body where the virus can remain for weeks.
On the other hand, it is physically impossible for an mRNA vaccine to reproduce in your body. Once the mRNA molecules enter a cell, they direct the synthesis of spike protein for a few hours before the cell destroys the mRNA. The spike protein sticks around for a little longer, but is also destroyed. No, COVID vaccines don't stay in your body for years.
