Pizza Hut Selling Snake Pizza in Hong Kong

American company Pizza Hut has teamed up with a century-old Hong Kong restaurant to put a modern spin on a traditional dish, or more simply, snake on a pizza.

The new offering combines shredded snake meat, black mushrooms and Chinese dried ham – all indispensable ingredients of an authentic snake stew and part of the Hong Kong franchise’s marketing plot to generate buzz online.

Some diners in Hong Kong and around southern China have long enjoyed snake stew, especially during the colder months.

It's really not a big deal. When I was a Boy Scout, we'd kill frogs with rocks using a slingshot. We would then rip off the legs, put them on twigs and cook them over a campfire. We ate them just fine.

We didn't do that with snakes but I'm sure that would have been a nice experience as well. I would definitely eat snake if it was available to us for eating.

I would try both frog legs and snake on pizza. That is fine by me.

I went to Shanghai and Zhangjiagang, China with a couple of colleagues on a business trip in early 2001. At a popular restaurant in Shanghai, our host asked if we would like to order a snake.

“What kind of a snake?” I asked.

“A long one,” she replied enthusiastically.

We took a hard pass, but i thought that was funny.
