In 1901, when the American League was founded, the Philadelphia Athletics were one of the eight charter franchises. The A’s moved to Kansas City in 1955 and to Oakland in 1968, and they are on the move again.
No major league team has called four cities home, but the A’s are about to write a new and bittersweet page in baseball’s history book. Major league owners voted unanimously Thursday morning to approve the A’s move to Las Vegas, meaning a city that celebrated four World Series championships and nurtured Hall of Famers Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers and Dennis Eckersley soon will find itself without a baseball team to call its own.

Horrid decision. Hopefully, Nevada voters kill the stadium project.
If history is any indicator, whatever city the A's team moves to becomes a crap hole city within a few decades.
Bastards.
too late
Follow the $$$$$ Oakland is a hellhole compared to Vegas but in a few years it’s conceivable that Vegas will utterly look like Oakland does now.
With the legalization of sports betting all over the country I wonder if they are going to take down the “Black Sox notice” in the clubhouse?
I watch the Celtics and they post the changing odds during the damned game now. I don’t think that is good for the game.
Vegas is Disneyland for degenerates.
Once you are off the strip it’s not a bad place at all. My sister lived there for years. It got much colder in the winter than I had imagined.
Back to KC
Vegas is built on foundation of vice and you can feel it when you are there.
Oakland used to be the home of three pro franchises - the Raiders, the Warriors and the A’s - all gone. Two of them to Vegas.
My experience on the ground in Vegas limited the Strip seems like a place to lose money I prefer the hotel rooms under 200 dollars a night I don’t gamble not even a lottery ticket.
There’s places to spend money that are pretty naughty and or nasty I’m told.
Leftardism ruined Oakland - no surprise there.
This is Terrible, where will the gangs on minority yutes get their stuff if nobody comes to the stadium?
Also used to be the home to the Oakland Seals (NHL), established in 1967. By 1976 (after years of mismanagement particularly under Charlie Finley), the franchise moved to Cleveland (Richfield) and then merged in 1978 with the Minnesota North Stars.
Ping.
hey now...you forgot the Oakland Seals hockey team...white skates and all...
Oakland is a Dem hellhole. I was in Vegas recently, down by old LV to the strip near the airport there are now 5,000 homeless encampments, this is recent, it is a DUMP.
Can’t stand to be around slot machines, inside casinos. Can’t jive with that vibe. The word ‘chintzy’ comes to mind. It’s an IQ lowering environment. They’ve built those luxurious Las Vegas hotels from all the chumps who’ve spent and lost $$ there.
We have relatives, who have lived there, for years.
They have told us the same....not to even bother coming to Vegas. We’ve had many a great past reunion, and, memories, there.
Vegas isn’t Vegas, anymore :-(
