A teenage girl has been charged with stabbing her newborn baby to death before stashing the body in an empty dog food bag in her closet.
The 16-year-old, who has not been named, was charged with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon according to court records seen by Star Herald.
Authorities had responded to a home in Gordon, Nebraska, on Monday evening after a report that a teen had given birth, and the baby wasn't breathing.
The affidavit states the father met the arriving officer at the door and told them, it was too late, and then where the newborn was.
After locating the newborn, the affidavit states the officer looked at the newborn and realized its throat had been cut, and that there were multiple stab wounds.
The teen's mother also is said to have informed the officer 'she hurt him', referring her daughter, and 'you can see the marks'.
The officer described how he entered a bedroom and saw the teenager squatting by the bedroom door, with her mother holding the infant in a towel, crying hysterically.
After attempting to administer first aid, EMS teams arrived and took over care of the infant.
According to statements made by the parents, the teen had gone into the kitchen an hour prior to the incident and opened a drawer that contained a boning knife.
Neither of the two saw her remove the knife, but the officer and parents discovered it was missing after searching the drawer.
The teenager later told her mom that she needed to go to a store to buy sanitary products.
After leaving, one of the family's dogs went into the teen's bedroom, where the mom reported finding a large amount of blood on the floor and wall.

I have a friend who is an administrator / social-worker in a city school district. They have always told me, quite simply: if there are a biological father and mother in the house, the chance of really bad-outcomes (criminality, drug addiction, teen pregnancy/abortion, violence, gangs, drop-outs) become almost nil.
