This story has a BS smell to it. That said, if a bartender does not warn a patron about something like this beforehand, the patron should not be held responsible.
Yeah It’s probably BS. I cannot imagine no fair warning given to a $2,300 drink.

Do you really think it’s the bartender’s job to convince people not to order a certain drink? Caveat emptor.
If that particilar establishment has a cocktail that expensive I’m sure the establishment’s clientel has any number of people that are wealthy, chic, wear $200K watches, Italian fashions, and order stuff like that.
Agree. I’m sure they would warn you. Not many people would order that drink. The last time I stayed in a 5 star hotel was in Vienna. A scotch and water was $40. I thought that was outrageous.

It is not the bartender’s fault the the patron does not have the education to determine the meaning of a decimal point.
