The Food and Gold Questions -- Yankees in the South -- The State of Society -- The Prisoners -- Gen. Butler's Operations -- Affairs in North Carolina -- General News.

THE FOOD AND GOLD QUESTION.

In its review of the markets on Nov. 4, the Examiner says:

State bank-notes unsettled, but may be quoted: Virginia, buying at $2 -- selling at $2 50@$2 75; North Carolina buying at $250 -- selling at $3; Georgia and South Carolina buying at $3 25 -- selling at $3 50@$3 75.
