Now that the Disney Grooming Syndicate’s The Marvels is a bonafide box office catastrophe, we can expect the usual-usual lies about how this is all the fault of racist Trump supporters, all the fault of everything except a lousy movie with unappealing stars running around pointing at terrible CGI in a spent franchise that has worked overtime to alienate fans by taking a dump on everything they once loved about that franchise.
Except.
The science does not back that up.
Here’s a breakdown of the suckers who went to see The Marvels this weekend….
Other diagnostics on The Marvels: 65% male leaning, with 45% men over 25, 22% women over 25 (giving it the best grades at 82%), men under 25 at 20%, and women under 25 at 14%. Biggest demo was 25-34 at 33%. Diversity demos were 36% Caucasian, 27% Latino and Hispanic, 17% Black, and 14% Asian.
“Male leaning.” Man alive.

Yes Brie Larson is annoying. She used her fleeting fame to posture as a woke champion. She is now in JLaw territory who should fear that she has reached the end of her shelf life.
That said, I recently watched one of her films, Trouble with Bliss (2012), on a streaming service. She played a promiscuous, Catholic school girl who was having sex with a 35 year old man. In one scene, she exposes her rather chubby ass walking away. While the reviews were bad, I enjoyed the film.
production budget $274.8m
worldwide opening weekend $88.5m
certified stinks on ice.
The rule of thumb is that a movie has to earn twice its production and marketing costs to break even.
Wpw, that is shocking and so very unexpected.
This movie is woke and dull. Far too predictable. Total chick power flick.
I am with you. I liked the original run of the Marvel movies; but, even in the originals, I really disliked the "Captain Marvel" character and thought that Brie Larson is an awful actress.

Hollywood, always refusing to learn lessons, is blaming the dismal box office performance on the recent actors strike with their inability to do promotion.
