In the 1970s, the coolest job you could have was flipping burgers at McDonald’s.
At least according to Paul Hendel...
Still, he felt conflicted. Hendel asked his dad for advice before accepting the offer at McDonald’s. That conversation, he says, “changed the trajectory of my career.”
“We were out to dinner, and I mentioned the offer from Hunt, and my dad’s first question — I’ll never forget it — was, ‘Do you like what you do?’” says Hendel. “And I said, ‘Yeah, I really love it.’ And he goes, ‘Do you think you’re good at it?’ And I said, ‘Well I just got promoted!’”
He continues: “Then he said, ‘Paul, if that’s what you like to do, and you’re good at it, stick with it because I’m not crazy about my job or commuting into Manhattan every day.’ I realized, then, that work isn’t just about getting a paycheck every week. I’m so glad he gave me the advice he did, because I still love what I do.”

I worked at Oakbrook headquarters in the mid-’70’s. At THAT time a McDonald’s store manager was making around $65,000-$70,000/yr.....not a bad chunk of change back in the day. Those managers basically had an education equivalent to a 4 year degree at a university and probably a lot more valuable to them. They were not only trained in how to manage and run the business but ALSO how to break down and repair alot of their store equipment.....
“‘Do you like what you do?’” says Hendel. “And I said, ‘Yeah, I really love it.’”
This is what a liberal marxist democrat NEVER understands. People are not mindless slaves who trudge to work hating their jobs and hating their bosses. I dare say most people enjoy their jobs.
even if he was still flipping burgers, I would respect him....doing productive work, doing it well, steadily, is a goal more people should aim for.....
they work hard and they save....
CMON MAN you left out the timeless salient part when Brad gets fired about 3 minutes after your pic, because his dweeb register guy went to the bathroom to burn one...and getting fired is evergreen lofl...
"I hope you had a hell of a piss, Arnold!"
A neighbor managed a Mickey D’s 1970s and confessed to running a scam to extract cash.
He would deposit a handful of coupons and extract cash from the day’s receipts.
After a year or so he had collected about $100.00.
Like the “The Tell-Tale Heart” it worked on him until he could not take it anymore. Late one night he drove to the local police station, confessed, and handed over his cash haul.
Lol!!
Dare to dream.
