A lot of people would not do it if we spent more time talking about God’s view of suicide and informing people of the Christian teachings on it.
Police Service is a tough career
We should appreciate the good ones and not cr@p on the general membership at every opportunity
The four deaths are being investigated by homicide detectives ...
~~~
I should hope so.
I’m sorry to the families if they are looking for quick closure, but there’s no way that these four deaths should be dismissed as suicides without a hard look
The general membership needs to police its ranks, no pun intended.
Most copper offices openly state that ~10% should not be in uniform. Not the affirmative hires, the ones unfit.
It is kinda like the Catholic church and it pedos, and Islam and its Aholes. Quit asking for kind words and support until AFTER you openly clean your room. And, it has to be open or otherwise you just moved out the bad apples and they will roll over into some other office to put on a uniform there.
Clean up!!
There was a murder/suicide in a parking garage near campus yesterday. Weird.
Saw that (VT?) — heard it was high schoolers.
"...I have some sympathy for Police, because they see, straight up and in the face, the seamy underbelly of human dishonesty and corruption all the time. No wonder they have stress, suicides, etc. We can look away from it, but they cannot..."
Then I see this news item.
I just saw that the victim had committed to a college per FB. Someone posted her name.
I agree. We need to figure out how to get out of this box the Left has put us all in by demonizing all police. There are bad ones, no doubt, and they should be dealt with.
But we need police to do a job, we need to let them do their job by backing them, and we need to protect them when they do their job and are attacked for it.
As citizens, we need Police.
Clinical depression isn’t just a lack of religious teachings. You can be a good Christian and pray with all your heart for God to take that cup away from you and still be depressed. Sometimes God’s answer to your prayers is no.
Could these officers been helped by reaching out to the chaplain? Maybe.
A cluster of suicides like that does NOT sound like coincidence to me.
My thoughts exactly. Que Paul Harvey for the rest of the story.
But, but the waiting period for buying guns in California was supposed to stop suicides!
The book and movie The New Centurions by Joseph Wambaugh shows George C. Scott doing a number on himself. Back then it was a known problem.
Something nefarious going on in their private lives about to be discovered? Sex club, human trafficking, drug dealing, overdue library books? Four in such a short period of time just ain’t right.
I would be looking for a link...what did they know?
” . . . but there’s no way that these four deaths should be dismissed as suicides without a hard look “
AGREE. There’s more than meets the eye here.
“As citizens, we need Police.”
No. No we do not. We do not need a standing army of chekists who gather revenue for government via fines and the outright theft called ‘civil asset forfeiture’.
We do not need a standing army that penalizes citizens for exercising their rights and defending themselves while criminals go free.
We do not need a standing army that holds our very Constitution in utter contempt and will openly retaliate against citizens who hold them accountable.
No, it is time to end the nearly 200 year experiment of modern policing. Restore Constitutional carry, defund and disband the Democrats personal army, and make accountable and elected sheriffs the face of law enforcement. Let them deputize a posse when they need to but otherwise let the people police themselves.
By no means are all suicides a big complicated deal, a lot of suicide is simply seeing it as a valid option and doing it.
A lot of suicides could be stopped by simply pointing out that the person doesn’t want to go out by shooting the bird at God, explaining that absolute to men in articles and pamphlets when the subject is mentioned would make a lot of them have to take the suicide option off the table and put them back to searching for other ways to deal with whatever they are dealing with.
Agree need more Dirty Harry types they don’t do suicide crime rates drops.
