Ichiro, now 50, spent last weekend coaching young ballplayers at Asahikawa Higashi High School in Hokkaido, Japan.
While showing players how he hits, Ichiro got ahold of a ball and sent it flying over the fence that separates the field from the school.
It ended up breaking a window and flying into an unsuspecting math class.
Ichiro is spending his retirement traveling all over Japan teaching and training the next generation of kids on baseball.
And, occasionally breaking a window with a solid hit.
He was a fantastic player and should be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer
Holds the MLB record for most hits in the regular season
I wonder how many hits he would have had, had he played his entire career in MLB.
This is a 20 second video on X ... worth your click onto the video.
If someone can embed the video into FR that would be helpful. Past my skills.
Always liked him.
Now if only he had a method for playing Violin
1st ballot Hall of Famer, no doubt!
He was not only a magician with the bat, but he was also a gold glove outfielder with a cannon for an arm and stole a bunch of bases.
He played every day and gave 100% effort each time, he was a real pleasure to watch.
That’s great! I loved the look on his face when he realized he broke it - like a 16 year old kid again.
The Mariners could have used him last year.
I’m glad he’s not simply wasting his time. Teaching kids how to excel at the greatest game is time well spent.
