Are you thinking about moving to Los Angeles? We’ve been fortunate enough to call this city home and wanted to provide a comprehensive list of the honest pros and cons of living in Los Angeles, California.
Los Angeles’ five counties are Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura. Collectively, they make up the metro area of Los Angeles, which is home to 13.2 million residents as of 2022.

Prior to the ‘92 riot there was the ‘67 riot that practically destroyed Watts, a fine town with small houses that the black community could afford. Left LA that year and never returned.
LA might still have sunshine.
I think the rest is OBE
Watts riot was 1965.
There is no upside to Los Angeles unless you’re homeless, gay or a liberal.
Normal people prefer clean, safe, friendly places. Cities don’t fit that category regardless.
We lived in Marina del Rey when the kids were in grade school and high school. Beautiful, clean air all the time, safe as could be. Wonderful schools, interesting neighbors, some who are still great friends. When I went back for some reason about 10 years ago, that beach was dangerous, lots of druggies shooting up in the sand. No way a child of mine would ever go there now. Sad, really. .
That’s unfair
Btw, the ‘65 was small and isolated compared to the 92 event. In 65 the blacks had a hard time getting along with the Jews who owned most the businesses that got burned out around Watts. In 92 they went after the Koreans and most everyone else who happened to be white. Seems some blacks have a hard time getting along with other people. Asian, Jews, White folk etc...
Vin Scully was the last thing I might have visited L.A. for.
“Oh Gawd gag me with a spoon, as Moon Unit Zappa, would say.”
Moon Unit Zappa created Valspeak the way valley girls talk. Fer sure. Bag yer face. Totally.
I was just thinking the other day that I drove from coast to coast across America twice and the only place I ever had a bird hit my truck or car was in the Valley, right near the Sherman Oaks Galleria. I was driving by looking at it and saw a pair of webbed feet hit the top of my windshield. There was no damage but I thought it was an odd place for that to happen.
For decade here in Charleston,SC for decades here organized crime has been ran by black and Jewish families and they get along fairly good.
The weather is nice when it is below zero in other states.
I am in the San Fernando valley and when I had to drive to the 101 freeway on my way to work, it took me about 15 minutes to go 4 miles down Topanga blvd then wait to get on the freeway. At least I was driving to Calabasas instead of Los Angeles!
If you own a home in a nice outlining part of LA and have a wall around the property to keep out the rattlesnakes, it can be nice. The costs are too high for property and utilities and taxes.
Corrrectamundo! And you are right, the Watts riot was ‘65. The memory weakens with age.
I don’t think the people there are generally bad, it’s just the few and the folks that put bad people in office that gives Kali a bad rep. Still, I have no desire to travel to it.
There are interior towns aren’t too bad
It’s a shame
The Reagan years were good
It takes all day to go to Malibu or Venice from say Burbank or Glendale and back after a few hours at beach
