I know you all hate these lists, I never thought of "Avatar" as a liberal movie.

#2 is a movie I never heard of "Billy Elliot"(2000).

There are 250 movies on this list, they had to narrow it down.

It would be easier to identify movies without a political message.

Does “liberal” here mean the same as it usually does - LEFTIST?

Did “Billy Jack” make Top 10? Also a Top 10 comedy.

I liked “Silent Running” as a kid. I found it nearly unwatchable, some years ago.

when I was 13 I thought Billy Jack was the coolest thing ever. I watched it again as an adult and it’s maybe the gawd-awful thing I’ve ever seen.

Did they get “Reds” (Warren Beatty) and “The Front” (Woody Allen)? Overt Communist propaganda.

Lol. I heard that.
Now The Dirty Harry series still holds up. All around good casting, story and a great soundtrack.

Oh, yeah. I saw it in the theater, as a kid.

A testament to the manipulative power of film on young skulls full of mush. There were some others,,,”Thr Cross and the Switchblade,” “Bless the Beasts and Children”. (I saw that in school).

"Cool Hand Luke"

Wait, what? Because it portrayed a corrupt Florida penal system correctly? Because it filled the camp full of mutants correctly?

Because Rosenberg tried to make Luke a Christ figure? The remarkable part of that was, it was flimsy and yet it did not weight down the film one ounce.

Because of the Oedipal scene between Arletta and Luke? Pure acting genius on both the part of Jo Van Fleet and Newman.

No, the only flaw in that classic is when Luke stole the truck, there was surely a rifle in there, he could have put 3 in Godfrey's hat and then drove straight up to The Captain's porch and aired him out as well. Luke knew he was living under a death warrant so why not? Then they could have made a sequel about the subsequent trial and Luke raising hell on Death Row at Union.

Clint is a jazz freak. He always had a great ear for music.

Likewise. The heavy-handed green propaganda got to me within 15 minutes when I attempted to rewatch this movie after nearly 50 years.

I liked the SNL parody with Paul Simon as "Billy Paul".....

"If only the world could get along as this ice cream cone.. Billy Paul wouldn’t have to kill so many people."

My sisters LOVED that movie. Of course, they were 12-15 years old at the time. They loved that and "Brian's Song".

Interesting. Avatar just blows anytime Sigourney isn’t onscreen. Worthington is a stiff with his Bradley Cooper Disease talking down into his chest with or without a mouthful of dip *spit*.
