The “horror” of a field hockey player being struck in the face by a shot from a male on the opposing team has one local superintendent calling on the MIAA to revisit its guidelines that allow boys to play a girls’ sport.
Dighton-Rehoboth Superintendent Bill Runey is making the push after a male member on the Swampscott High girls’ field hockey team took a shot that hit the face of a female player competing for his regional district.
The brutal injury, coming from a corner play in the third quarter during Thursday’s state tournament matchup in Swampscott, caused the D-R player to be treated at a hospital for what Runey described as “significant facial and dental injuries.”
Males are allowed to participate on female teams in Massachusetts based on the state’s Equal Rights Amendment, according to the MIAA handbook.
Video shows the Swampscott player taking the corner, shooting the ball and in an instant, the D-R player squatting to the ground, screeching in pain. Her teammates are visibly shaken by the hit, with trainers rushing the field to care for the player.
Play stopped for roughly 10 minutes before it resumed.
The same player taking the shot for Swampscott scored both goals as the team defeated D-R in a 2-0 shutout.

It’s a tactic of the left to be absolutist, in order to show why the old way doesn’t work so they can show a new way.
YESSSS!
The same “guy” then scored 2 winning goals for the team.
Aren’t they proud??? /s
I’m more interested to know if the boy showered and dressed in the girls room. Otherwise, this incident is a unfortunate sports injury. One time I was playing third base and a guy jumped on my ankle while sliding. Could have been a man girl. Injuries happen.
Yawn. This is a non-issue, the girls on the team with the dude seem to enthusiastically support him. This will not stop until women decide it should stop. Until then let them get owned by men on the playing field. If you can’t take the heat…
Apparently this has nothing to do with trannies: “Males are allowed to participate on female teams in Massachusetts based on the state’s Equal Rights Amendment”
This is utterly insane. “Equal Rights” — wasn’t it sufficient to have separate boys and girls teams? Wasn’t that “equal” enough?
30 years ago, courts mandated that girls be allowed to play on boys teams.
I remember several father’s saying this would happen, and many moms screeching it was for equality.
So while I am sad for the young lady, some lessons are only learned the hard way.
It is all the more reason to replace all those cis gender weakling girls with Trannies. Well that is what is slowly but surely happening bit by bit. Slowly until some sort of critical mass is reached then suddenly there will be no girls’ and women’s sports. The labeled women’s teams will be composed entirely of third string men who want some “wins” they could not get playing in the appropriate leagues and teams. The new “Women’s” leagues composed entirely of men who fail in men’s sports will attract no more followers and money than the women’s teams have had and probably much less though new laws will require that they be paid the same as the non poseur teams are paid.
Where are all the girls and women, sorry, transmen (spit) dominating men’s sports? If they are the same shouldn’t Usan Bolt have been outran by a transman (spot)?
What would be in account is the type of injury that occurs in field hockey. Most of the injuries that occur for females are to the head by stick and high ball shots in the the area of the net. From the report below this is more common for men and women. Though this is only one report it does give a good
This not to say that men are stronger and more aggressive than females and possibly women can be injured in play with men but it is a sport that has the ability to be damaging to players. Is there any information on the other injuries that have occurred to the team this year or in the league? Is getting hit with a high ball common enough with female to female players? What is the most common injury in this league? The report for international play listed below is a good indicator of what can happen on the field and that these incidents are common whether men or women play.
So if you don’t want men and women playing like this, fine. There has to be a men’s team made play this sport in the US school systems. I assume the guy wanted to play field hockey but the only team he could play on was the women’s team. Field hockey is played internationally by men and women. Some how you need to find a better reason than the red-meat outrage of this one incident.

I homeschool. Partly because if this happened to one of my girls it would end with me, the coach, and two butterfly knives.
And we’d boogie, oogie, oogie, til he just can’t boogie no more.
Massholes got what they voted for.
Bears repeating. Vote Democrat and get screwed. But the most persistent trait of Democrat voters is that they never learn to connect their voting habits with things the government does. It’s like “vote Democrat” is hardwired into their brains.
and this is an absolutely a demonstration of how weak we are as a nation.....men of old would not have tolerated this...
What’s ironic is that under U.S. civil rights law, segregating school activities other than sports by gender would be as illegal as segregating them by race. In an increasingly militant feminist legal and political climate, it’s impossible to justify even having separate sports for boys and girls at all.
This will not stop. It will continue to grow and grow,
Before everyone jumps on the anti tranny bandwagon….boys playing field hockey in MA goes back decades. There were a couple playing it when I was in high school…in the 1980s.
If you ever want to see a fast, brutal game…watch adult men play field hockey. It’s crazy. It’s big in the Caribbean nations.
But was it horrific enough for her to not play into this nonsense and quit?
All the parents need to walk away. Let the boys play. Let them quit and try it again
This sh&t is pure insanity
