If you can make ridiculous calls like this one, you can definitely use your "discretion" to rig a game. And that's why people don't trust the NFL anymore.
Watch this absolute non-penalty get called for a fifteen yarder with an automatic first down.
....
Roughing the passer?! They literally hit him as he’s throwing. It’s impossible to play football if this is roughing.
...
Bro, those dudes were half a second from a sack, not even!
Just absolutely ridiculous refereeing here.
And Kirk Herbstreit's commentary is just brilliant. You can tell he's been around long enough to know how to keep his mouth shut when the bookie calls.
I only watch college football. I’ve watched them play with broken bones, something you never see in pro football.
To all here. How much real point shaving and throwing games do you think goes on and in what sports? I have heard before from an author who says plenty goes on, and it ruins the games for him now unless he looks at them as pure throwaway escapism, not true contests of skill and determination.
Might I suggest reruns of Lingerie Football?
My problem with the NFL is that every time there is TD the end zone is shown and there is some slogan, such as “End Racism”. That reminds me of the support for bLM by the NFL and many of the players. I also have a problem with simply watching TV. My intelligence is assaulted during every commercial break. Let’s just say, I don’t see any people like me in the ads and I’m supposed to be positively influenced by combinations of people that do not occur in the real world. It’s almost like you can go down a check list of identity groups for each commercial. I identify as angry old white man and damnit I feel left out. 😂
I accept the stupid things that are posted here all day, but your statement is not only stupid. It is false. The NFL viewership, and Product has only gotten Biggger, $Richer$, and Better. Just because you choose not to participate because you cant handle Life, and Entertainment balance at the same time, does not make your statement True.
John Hussey - horrible referee. Absolutely terrible.
That’s a good question. I have officiated on the professional and highest college level in two sports. What we are instructed on includes taking into consideration TV time slots, managing the game to be done in a time certain, and a lot of the feedback come from a lot of different sources and most recently from analytics.
So in football, a first down is always placed in a yard line. Unless inside the 10 when you will place the ball where it lies by spot. The reason is say there is a first down on the 37 1/2 with the next necessary line being the 47 1/2. Out the. All at the 38 so the nose of the ball is in the tick. Now if the nose of the ball is spotted at or near the 48 you don’t have to have a measurement.
Once in a while we will know the line was the 48 but the wing official spotted at the 47 and 3/4. (As the ball gets closer to the necessary line or line to gain, we officiate much more tightly) and we know that it isn’t a first down. The nose of the ball isn’t on the 48. But we also know that there is no way anyone would accept that judgment without seeing it for themselves with a chain.
If a guy runs for 9.75 yards on first and 10 in the middle of the field, I guarantee the ball will be spotted as a first down. Why? Because 2nd and inches from midfield will most likely be followed by a long throw for a free play. The majority of those passes are incomplete. That stops the clock. So my giving the first down the clock keeps running and at least 40 seconds came off the clock and it is running. Stopped clocks are the death of officials.
But if sends and 10 and the same 9.75 yard run. That ball will be spotted where it ended. Because now it’s only one play for a first down (unless the Offense is willing to play 4th down).
Lots of little things like that. Is it shaving? Don’t know. Is it wrong? I let the fans decide. But I can say I have never at the highest levels ever been told to eat a flag or not make a call or play favorites. It’s darn near impossible for us zebras to intend to skew a game. We just don’t think like thst. Most of the time I can’t even tell you the final score of the game I just did. But I sure know the foul count walking off the field.
Just take a knee.
Happy birthday Jim!
To ALL, let’s get this Freepathon over before Thanksgiving and double the contributions. Robinson family needs help due to health issues.
I still like football but I hate everything surrounding it...the obscene salaries, the ungrateful and hateful players, the sense that all the games are fixed for a certain outcome and all the hype....the good guys don’t seem to win in sports, just the bad boys..
The Pittsburgh kneelers won last night.
The Eagles Christmas single dropped today. Mailata can sing. Some people like it better than the Diva herself

See me. Watch me. I caught the ball. Watch me dance around like an idiot. Kindergarten? No. NFL!
I wish they would make it a felony to show the American flag or play the National Anthem at all professional sporting events or Olympic events. Those ahos don’t deserve that honor. Screw them.
I’ve pretty much given up on much of pro sports. The “institutions” are too far gone and I don’t want to subsidize them.
games are DEFINITELY and OBVIOUSLY being rigged now that gambling is the number one sponsor for NFL football ...
“I stopped watching when they allowed their players to kneel.”
I stopped watching at the Seahawks Superbowl with the Steelers. That officiating was so one sided, I decided
football was no better than scripted wrestling.
Only sport I now watch is America’s cup sailboat racing.
True that. And there's a lot less woke in CFB. When Saban and Bama did a BLM march in 2020 (a national championship year), scores of life-long Bama fans made videos burning jerseys and tickets, vowing never to go to another game. There aren't words to describe how loud a statement that is in a state where college football's importance is a hair below God and family.
Saban and the players got the point. There were a couple of times after that when Saban said something like "black lives matter because all lives matter" (Saban saying he got the point) and I've yet to see a BLM message from them since.
The fans came back to the games and we've been good.
I watched that game too. I thought the officiating was awful. I seem to remember the Seattle coach (Holmgren???) saying he didn’t know they would be playing the referees too. As far as I know, I don’t think the NFL disciplined him either, indicating to me, that NFL brass thought he had a legitimate point.
Real men on sunday
Real men don’t use jack stands. We don’t need no stinkin’ jack stands!!
