Police investigating death of US ice hockey player Adam Johnson who died in ‘freak accident’

“He was a great kid, he was a good player,” head coach Mike Sullivan said. “Boy, he could really skate. It was a privilege to be his coach. There are no words I have to explain how I feel about the whole circumstance. It’s just an incredible tragedy.”
The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA), the governing body of ice hockey in England and Wales, released a statement on Monday detailing its commitment to improving player safety in the aftermath of Johnson’s death.

That was a karate kick to the neck with a blade. We don't need neck guards. What we need is an end to the double standard in law enforcement, where certain parties are being given cover and an automatic save for everything they do. Once they can't get away with it anymore, this hate whitey crap will stop.

I agree. I watched high quality video, slowed it down and you can clearly see him lift his leg very high while he intentionally straightened his leg to make contact with his skate to the players head area.

Nor mention that the video shows that the fatal blow looks like Petgrave aimed a deliberate side kick. It might not be but it sure looks like it.

That’s exactly what it was and it was done on purpose. NOBODY prepares for impact by doing a sidekick, that was an intentional and aggressive move. Should be in prison, manslaughter.

Looks to me like he was intentionally trying to injure him, but I really doubt he was trying to kill him. Some sort of criminal charges should be brought against him.
