Capers are salty, and they are packed in brine and vinegar. To use them, empty them from the bottle and wash them with water. You don't need to chop them up. They're fine as is after a washing.

Insofar as there are only two of us, we're having Cornish game hens instead of turkey.

Thanks! I would not have known to wash them off.

Cornish game hens sound wonderful! Enjoy your day, have a blessed time, and thanks for all of your contributions and help. I’ll let you know how the linguine with anchovies works out lol.

I bought my first little jar of capers not to long ago for some recipe I tried. Now I throw them in when I make up canned chicken or canned beef for sandwiches. I thought they had a bit of a nutty taste.

Publius, why would you need to wash them? I didn’t.

I personally like capers. Use on pizza , aioli add on with sundried tomatoes, add to holy trinity for soups and sauces-Dolly

Capparis spinosa, the caper bush, also called Flinders rose, is a perennial plant that bears rounded, fleshy leaves and large white to pinkish-white flowers. The plant is best known for the edible flower buds, used as a seasoning or garnish, and the fruit, both of which are usually consumed salted or pickled.
