Day 602 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, and attacks both military and civilian targets.
In the early hours of October 18, the kremlin terrorist forces launched yet another series of missile strikes on civilian targets in the cities of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the settlement of Obukhivka (Dnipropetrovsk oblast). During the day of October 18, there was a total of 64 combat engagements. The enemy launched 11 missile and 46 air strikes, more than 30 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. A five-storey residential building, a church, more than 20 private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
The operational situation in east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues to shell Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. About 10 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Popivka (Chernihiv oblast), Volfyne, Obody, Novomykolaivka, Hrabovske (Sumy oblast), Pletenivka, Zybyne (Kharkiv oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: Ukrainian soldiers repelled more than 10 enemy attacks in the vicinities of Synkivka Ivanivka and Kyslivka (Kharkiv oblast) and around 10 more attacks near Nadiya (Luhansk oblast). The adversary launched an air strike in the vicinity of Pishchane (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of settlements of Nevske, Novolyubivka, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Spirne (Donetsk oblast). The Ukrainian defense forces also repelled 3x enemy attacks in the vicinity of Makiнivka (Luhansk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Nevske, Kreminna, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Novosadove, Tors’ke, Spirne (Donetsk oblast).
BAKMUT AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled adversary attacks in the vicinity of Klishchiyivka (Donetsk oblast). Around 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Andriyivka, Odradivka, Kurdyumivka Donetsk oblast).
AVDIYIVKA AXIS: the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations with air support in the vicinity of Avdiyivka (Donetsk oblast). Also, the adversary launched an air strike near Kamyanka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Keramik, Stepove, Avdiyivka, Opytne, Sjeverne, Tonenke (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations with air support in the vicinities of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). The Ukrainian defense forces repelled around 15 enemy attacks in that area. Also, the occupiers launched air strikes near Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Heorhiyivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka (Donetsk oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire from the occupiers.
SHAKTARSHE AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks near Novomaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched air strikes near Staromaiorske and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA: the Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks east of Mala Tokmachka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 15 settlements, including Bilohirya Orikhiv, Novodanylivka, Novoandriyivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Pyatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON AXIS: the occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Novoberyslav, Kozatske, Olhivka, Prydniprovske and Pishchanivka (Kherson oblast). The settlements of Kozatske, Tyahynka, Blahovishchenske, Chornobaivka (Kherson oblast), the city of Kherson, as well as Solonchaky (Mykolaiv oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
At the same time, the Ukrainian defense forces continue offensive operations in the Melitopol axis, offensive (assault) operations in the Bakhmut axis, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
The russian occupiers continue to cynically violate the norms of international humanitarian law, forcibly living with civilians in their homes in order to use civilians as human shields. For example, in the settlement of Tokmak (Zaporizhzhia oblast), servicemen of the russian occupation forces are being massively resettled in multi-story buildings inhabited by local residents.
During the day of October 18, Ukrainian Air Force launched 15 air strikes on the concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, and 3 air strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems of the adversary. Moreover, the Ukrainian defenders shot down 1 Su-25 aircraft and 4 operational-tactical reconnaissance UAVs of the russian invaders.
The missile troops hit 2 command posts, 1 Tor air defense missile system, 1 Zoopark-1M counter-battery radar system and 11 artillery systems of the occupiers.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with President of France Emmanuel Macron. During the lengthy conversation, the leaders discussed a number of bilateral issues.
The Head of State thanked Emmanuel Macron for France’s comprehensive support for Ukraine, particularly for the recent defense assistance package.
“It is important that all our agreements on strengthening defense support from France are being implemented. I really appreciate it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders discussed the situation on the battlefield and the most urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders, primarily in terms of strengthening air defense, long-range weapons, and increasing Ukraine’s naval capabilities. They also exchanged views on the functioning of the “grain corridor” and ways to enhance its protection.
In the context of discussing Ukraine’s cooperation with the EU, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron touched upon the issues of further macro-financial support for our country, in particular through the use of the Ukraine Facility new financial instrument. The Head of State emphasized the importance of making a decision to launch negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Special attention was paid to further steps to implement the Ukrainian Peace Formula. Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed about the preparation of the next meeting at the level of national security advisors and foreign policy advisors to the heads of state.
The Presidents of Ukraine and France also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. The leaders emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and the inadmissibility of escalating the security situation in the region.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu, who is on a visit to Ukraine.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to Romania for the significant practical assistance to Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion.
“I would like to thank you personally and the people of Romania for supporting Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, as well as for the military assistance packages that strengthened us on the battlefield,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President praised the results of his recent visit to Romania, as well as the first joint meeting of the two governments in the history of Ukrainian-Romanian relations, which took place in Kyiv.
“This is a great achievement after our agreements at the presidential level to build a strategic partnership between the countries. Today we see the development of these agreements,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State expressed confidence that Ukraine-Romania relations would be further built up. This will be facilitated by the resolution of topical issues of the bilateral agenda.

Ukraine used the ATACMS missiles today, which have destroyed an entire helicopter base in Berdyansk just hours ago. Russian sources describe it as the single greatest loss of aircraft in the war, and the Russians are furious over the missile’s use.
