The Caleb Williams saga is going to be one that we're going to get tired of quickly. It's a unique situation. As long as Williams stays healthy and doesn't completely shit the bed, he will go number one in next year's draft. He's already got a Heisman Trophy, and now it seems like he's making demands.
About a month back, it was reported that Williams would consider staying in college if the Cardinals ended up with the number one overall pick. I think that's such an insane thing to entertain. It was like the first week of the season, why would you just randomly throw the Arizona Cardinals out there as a member of your shit list. But now it seems like he wants part ownership of a team.
Caleb Williams is a bold man. He played a terrible game last week against Notre Dame, but he is the most hyped quarterback prospect we've seen since Andrew Luck. I think he knows that he holds all the cards here, but will any teams be willing to pony up and actually give him equity? Aaron Rodgers is a multi-time MVP award winner with a Super Bowl in his back pocket, and the Jets still said no.

Some employees are too problematic regardless of what they can do. I’d pass on this guy.
Exactly. Then do something original, like pound the ball. The NFL is a passing league these days. Defenses are built to defend the pass. Do the opposite. I’m always the contrarian. 😂
Make that .1%, and it may be workable, provided that negative outcomes detract from the stake, as well.
Ummmm, “Let the big man through...” If I were the front line, I wouldn’t block for this “me... me...”
Hardee har har! Good luck with that, Caleb.
Todd Marinovich.
His dad didn’t let him have any fast food, beer, or fun.
He got drafted to the Raiders and became a coke monkey and failure.
If Williams plays like he has against good times this year (which was pure trash against Notre Dame) then he deserves to be drafted by the Denver Broncos...
Isn’t Green Bay owned by the residents? Give him a share of the Packers as long as he lives there.
Let the NFL disappear into the dustbin of history.
Good for him. Careers are short, make sure you’re setup for the future. I mean I doubt highly he’ll get it, but aim high. Ryan Seacrest has always said the best piece of career advice he ever got was when Dick Clark told him to always get a producing credit, that’s where the permanent money is. In sports the equivalent of that is an ownership stake.
Owners like Jerry Jones in Dallas, the Hunts in KC, Irsay in Indy, or Pegula in Buffalo who made their money the hard way or are controlling a long-term family legacy - will make sure such a ridiculous thing never sees the light of day.
Even a tiny ownership stake in a multibillion dollar company that never loses money is good cash for a long time. All the way up until it gets sold. And even then, there’s a nice cash out.
Only thing I saw lately from this guy was Notre Dame taking total ownership of him.
Best to keep the mouth shut and let the performance on the field leverage positioning later. He’s giving away his leverage too soon. If he doesn’t want to play for the Cardinals just wait and see who gets the #1 pick. If it falls to the Cardinals he can claim he wishes to complete his senior year without specifically naming them. Wants some ownership of the team that drafts him?
What owner will that appeal to? A team that he might want to go to just might pass him by with that upfront demand. Not very smart in my opinion which is not something desirable in an NFL QB.
>> It’s a remarkably stupid strategy... If I were an owner I’d be all over that.
👍🏻
He needs to be taken down a notch or two.
That’s true. Also, you never really know how someone is going to pan out.
Brock Purdy is a good example. Mr Irrelevant that no one wanted is a starting QB now and winning games.
You’re right. Similar to the adage that 90% of baseball is pitching.
