It was an eventful day.
It is important that today, on the 600th day of the full-scale war, Penny Pritzker, the U.S. Special Representative for our сountry’s recovery, arrived in Ukraine. Such a visit on such a day is an important signal. It was a good meeting.
We managed to discuss all the issues that directly affect life in Ukraine. Protection of our energy sector, especially this winter. Macro-financial support. Reconstruction. Protection of investments from the war risks. Attracting private business.
Each of these areas is an element of the overall structure. A structure that ensures a normal life for our people and our cities. As much as it is possible now. We are working as hard as we can to give our warriors more air defense. To give more protection to our cities, so that they can maintain life, including economic life. Plus, the development of our industries, including defense production.
All of this together keeps us resilient. All of this together adds to Ukraine’s strength. And I am grateful to each of our partners – everyone who helps. To all those whose support programs are long-term. To everyone who understands that this is a marathon, and in a marathon you have to keep the right pace all the time, calculate your energies and see clearly that the race must end with victory.
I had several phone calls today. With the President of Finland and the Prime Minister of Canada. The situation on the battlefield. Support for our defense. The Peace Formula. We continue to prepare a new meeting in the format of national security advisors. I am grateful to both the President of Finland and the Prime Minister of Canada for their steadfast and principled attention to Ukraine, for their sincere faith in Ukraine and in our people.
We also discussed the situation in the Middle East. Prevention of further escalation. And assistance to people, protection of people. It is important to ensure that what is happening in the Middle East does not turn into an even bigger catastrophe.
And our warriors. Gratitude every day. The warriors of the 110th separate mechanized brigade, the “Seventy-ninth” of the Air Assault Forces, and the artillerymen of the 55th brigade. Thank you, guys, for your power! For the kind of destruction of the Russian occupiers that Ukraine needs. Also, the paratroopers of the 82nd separate brigade and the warriors of the 148th separate artillery brigade of the Air Assault Forces. I thank you for your courage and your efficiency in the offensive. Every step of ours is important. Every enemy loss is significant. Thank you!
And separately, our intelligence. The fighters of the Kraken special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, who are defending the area of Kupyansk. Thank you, guys! Thank you for your fortitude and efficiency!

Today I have signed new decrees on honoring warriors with state awards. Over the course of this war – the full-scale war – more than 60,000 Ukrainians have been awarded for their participation in battles for the sake of the state. This is truly full-scale courage. Courage that is rooted in the character of our people. The character that does not give up. The character that will prevail. For sure.

Huh? Wait a minute. Russia is looking for weak points in where Russia already broke through? How does Military Summary go from "it looks bad for Ukraine", to "this is a decisive attack", to "Russia is getting decisive victories" to "we don't know what's happening, but is the fault of the US and British that it happened?"
This is typical Russian information warfare tactics. As soon as Russian forces get out of the trench, flood social media with stories of overwhelming victory. These get picked up and spread by friendly social media and news channels (like the Hindustan Times).
When the truth gets out in the Western press, that Russia lost at the minimum, three Battalion Tactical Groups worth of combat vehicles, Russian Shill Inc (TM) gives its automatic response. It wasn't a major attack, it was a reconnaissance or probing, we don't know for sure, but whatever is happening the RU General staff is on in and it is definitely someone else's fault. At all times, flood social media and get in the last word.
The only people still buying into this are those who use Ukraine as a substitute for their own politics or the Russian web brigades and ольгинские тролли who are paid for it.

On the instructions of the President, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a phone call with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta Ian Borg.
Andriy Yermak briefed the Minister on the current security situation and Ukraine’s preparations for the winter period, in particular, the need to strengthen the protection of energy infrastructure facilities from Russian terrorist attacks.
The Head of the President’s Office informed on the preparations to hold the third meeting at the level of national security advisors and diplomatic advisors in the nearest future, which will focus on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the organization of the Global Peace Summit. He noted the participation of the Ambassador of Malta in regular thematic meetings at the ambassadorial level dedicated to specific points of the Peace Formula.
Andriy Yermak expressed gratitude to Malta and its people for their continued support of Ukraine and drew attention to the fact that this country is well known for its participation in humanitarian initiatives and is an authority in advocating for peace and security.
The interlocutors discussed the importance of cooperation in the context of expanding the circle of countries that support the Peace Formula by including the states of the Global South.
“Malta, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, focuses on the issues that are part of the Peace Formula: security, resilience and solidarity. We also need to develop an effective platform for deepening the dialogue with the countries of the Global South, and Malta’s role is very important for us,” emphasized Andriy Yermak.
The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malta agreed to continue the dialogue and enhance coordination on the issues raised during the conversation.

Day 600 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
At the beginning of the day, the russian occupants launched yet another missile and air strike on Ukraine, using 5x Kh-59 guided missiles, 1x Iskander-M ballistic missile and 12x Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. The Ukrainian air defense forces and means shot down 2x Kh-59 missiles and 11x Shaheds.
During the day of October 16, there were 53x combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 6x missile and 39x air strikes, 16x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
The operational situation in east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues to shell Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The occupiers launched an air strike in the vicinity of Buchky (Chernihiv oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Buda-Vorobivska (Chernihiv oblast), Sosnivka, Turya (Sumy oblast), Udy, Veterynarne, Hatyshche, and Neskuchne (Kharkiv oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: Ukrainian soldiers repelled 12x enemy attacks in the vicinities of Synkivka and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast), and 4x more attacks near Stelmakhivka and Nadiya (Luhansk oblast). In addition, the adversary launched an air strike in the vicinity of settlement of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 15x settlements, including Kamyanka, Dvorichna, Berestove, Synkivka, and Krokhmalne (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinity of Serebryanske forestry (Luhansk oblast), the settlements of Siversk and Spirne (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 20x settlements, including Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Torske, Verkhnokamyanske, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: the Ukrainian soldiers repelled 3x adversary attacks in the vicinity of settlement of Andriivka. The enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 15x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and New York (Donetsk oblast).
AVDIIVKA AXIS: the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations with the support of aircraft in the vicinities of Avdiivka and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast). The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 7x attacks of the adversary in that area. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Keramik, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast)

MARYINKA AXIS: during the day of October 16, Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 16x enemy attacks in the vicinity of Maryinka (Donetsk oblast). The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Maryinka and Oleksandropil (Donetsk oblast). Around 10x settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobjeda, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
SHAKHTARSKE AKIS: Ukrainian soldiers repelled enemy attacks south of Zolota Nyva and south of Prechystivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). Around 10x settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled all of the enemy attacks southwest of Novodanylivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The enemy also attempted to regain the lost ground west of Robotyne and west of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast), to no success. More than 20x settlements, including Poltavka, Hulyaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, and Pyatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON AXIS: the occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of settlements of Mykolaivka and Ivanivka (Kherson oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at Antonivka (Kherson oblast) and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on Melitopol axis and offensive (assault) operations on Bakhmut axis, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.
During the day of October 16, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 4x air strikes on the concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment of the adversary.
The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1x artillery system of the russian invaders.
