Is it too late to expand the College Football Playoff to 12 teams for the 2023 season?
As we’re now halfway through the final season of the four-team format, it’s becoming very clear that the playoff is expanding a year too late. There are at least 10 teams who look capable of winning the national title through the first seven weeks of the season. If there were a 12-team playoff this season, here’s what the field would look like at the moment, in our opinion. The four quarterfinal games would be exceptional.

in that bunch is one quality team, Utah, who played half the game minus one of the best QB’s in the country (who possibly may never play again); don’t give me Iowa or WVU, who’ve built their records on feeble opposition (take a gander at Iowa’s 2023 schedule)...
don’t misunderstand; I predict that PSU will defeat OSU this Saturday, because they’ve been snookered long enough against them...the point I make is there are several teams who could play that schedule with the same results...

Utah’s QB is still out b/c PSU broke him in half in the Rose Bowl. As for him being one of the best QB’s in the country - I certainly didn’t see that before he went down.

Gee, we didn’t get to see OHio State win yesterday! Due to the deal with PEACOCK, fans were blocked from watching unless, of course, they subscribed to Peacock. Would like to understand why a taxpayer, who funds a state university has to pay to watch the team they fund.
B1G conference game is in Indianapolis every year. Always fun to go to, no matter who’s playing.

And I didn't address the color of the PSU fan's shirts, b/c it doesn't matter. It's the 7:30 or 8pm start that matters.
We decided that we would subscribe to the Peacock just so we could watch the game. We rationalized that movies we rent are about $5 each, so this was cheaper than 2 movies. Bonus was that our son in California somehow managed access through our account. While we were logged in, and on the phone with him, he read us an access code that Peacock sent him that we typed in, and then he was allowed to stream the game on his device, too, without interruption to our viewing.
Poor Purdue fans have been stuck with Peacock for several games.
Later in the night, we decided that if someone were an avid enough fan, they could’ve gone to a Purdue home game at noon, and when finished, head over to South Bend and watched the Irish for an evening kick off.
I’m sorry, I can’t buy the Michigan to #1 because they are most dominating team in America. Look at their schedule. Why not wait until they play someone with a pulse?

This may not last long! But hey, as long as OSU loses I don’t care what happens. I’m pulling for PSU to slap around the Suckeyes and win the division.

Thanks. One hasn’t been to Ohio or Michigan or Wisconsin, but one has been to Indianapolis in February. The natives are nice to visitors but it’s kinda chilly there.

As i said earlier in this thread- the broadcast schedule for the B10 this year has been a disaster- i hope it blows up in their face
Most Midwesterners are genuinely nice to visitors, and Hoosiers are fine folks. February is usually one of the coldest months. I get a hankering for Spring when it comes on the calendar, so I’m trying to learn to schedule visits to the family down South when that happens.

Georgia won’t be tested until they get to the playoffs. Only ranked team they’ve played was Kentucky at the #20 spot a week ago. Maybe Ole Miss will give them a game? Otherwise, it’s been a cupcake schedule.
Oregon’s typical bravado caught up with them. Trying to act tough, they passed up two chip-shot field goals and went for first downs, which they failed to convert. Those field goals would have won the game for them.
We were lifelong residents of the Columbus area, my husband went to OHio State. But it infuriated us so much we didn’t take the bait. Go BUCKS and goodbye Ryan Day. LOL.
Lived in Cbus for 25 years. Youngest was born there, and still lives there. Oldest went to Ohio State, is a big Buckeye fan, and actually all Columbus teams (Crew and Blue Jackets).
It took me a few years to understand that Columbus really did view itself as a college town, despite the fact that is the state capitol, and has a lot of other cultured things to offer. Once I understood that, it was easier for me to join in, since I am a native Gator, far from home. The Midwest has become home to me during these years here, though I still retain most of my Southern ways.
Who would you like to have in place of Ryan Day?
