A grandmother was savagely mauled by three pit bulls while walking down a neighborhood in Austin, Texas.
The brutal attack left Maria Perez, 55, with wounds requiring more than 100 stitches and now the family says they want justice.
On Monday, Perez was taking an evening stroll with her nephew near her home in Round Rock. A neighbor opened their front door and three aggressive pit bulls leaped out. The dogs started running towards Perez and her nephew. The pair were chased down a dead-end street but the nephew was able to leap out of the way, which left the pit bulls fixated on Perez.
"He was able to get away very quickly to come and get my dad," Maria's daughter, Cristina Perez, told the Daily Mail. "And when he got away, the dogs went after her and attacked her."

"On October 9, officers responded to the 1500 block of Merrell Cove in response to an unprovoked dog attack involving two victims with significant injuries. One victim was walking on the sidewalk when three dogs exited a residence after the front door was left open and attacked her," the statement reads. "In an attempt to help the victim and divert the dogs' attention, a nearby neighbor was also attacked. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for injuries. A seizure warrant was issued, and the three dogs have been taken to the Williamson County Animal Shelter to be quarantined."

I just think it is odd that you say that guns and pit bulls are the same yet you own many guns while saying you will never own a pit bull.
You would be in total control of both, so why are you afraid of pit bulls?
It is not provable you are correct, the counter argument is just as unprovable.
Most people who want to ban them only know what they’ve read or heard in the media.
I said to another poster who called me a hypocrite for not owning a Pit Bull, if you don’t own one but support banning them that would be the same level of hypocrisy.
Again, you assume something that isn’t true by making assumptions that you know nothing about.
I said in another post why I don’t own one, look it up if you really want to know.
If you are really interested in why I’m debating pit bulls, go back thru the thread where I explained it to another poster who wasn’t making false assumptions about me.
Yes. Let’s agree to disagree. My assertion is that pit bulls are not adequately domesticated to be housed and owned like normal dogs, but should be treated as wild or undomesticated.
“””I’ve never owned one and I never will own one, I’m not willing to put in the time and effort to train them properly.”””
Right, you will own plenty of guns because they are mere metal, you fear the pit bull because it is an animal with a brain and wild unpredictable behavior that makes an effort to control sound too difficult to attempt for yourself, you make it sound like learning to handle unpredictable explosives.
You admit that it would take lots of effort and training to overcome his natural state, and in your heart, you know that it would still be a pit bull and that all of your training could not assure you that it would not kill your neighbor’s kids or your wife.
I’ve never owned a dog that I thought needed a bunch of training and effort to make it OK as a simple pet, or even to reduce its chances of killing me or other people.
It is not provable you are correct, the counter argument is just as unprovable. To your second point: been there, unfortunately, and more than once, but my dogs and I always came out on top, thankfully.
Most people who want to ban them only know what they’ve read or heard in the media.
Well, one has to be creative concealing in Texas during the summer...;^)
It must be your nature to assume things that aren’t true to attempt to make a point, it’s a typical strawman argument, make up something that isn’t true only to knock it down and think it proves something when it proves nothing.
Every dog requires training, unless you don’t mind if they urinate and poop indoors, never walk on a leash, etc.
I never said Pit Bulls weren’t aggressive, they are and require extra training.
Dogs are like cars in the sense that people like certain cars that I don’t.
A couple of guys in my neighborhood own Corvettes, I would never own one, one guy owns a Rivian Pickup Truck, I would never own one of them, same goes for the Teslas in my neighborhood...
Another guy down the street is retired military, he owns 2 yorkies that have a combined weight of 6-7 pounds, does that make him scared of Pit Bulls.
That's an improvable assertion. Try again.
It is also a great example of a "No true Scotsman" logical fallacy.
“”””I never said Pit Bulls weren’t aggressive, they are and require extra training.””””
You bet, and it seems that you are finally admitting it and why you would “never” have one.
Why would they need more training than other dogs?
While we are going down that road, let’s ban everything that are bad.
For example, Pythons are legal in Florida, but they are destroying the Everglades, so much so, professional trappers get paid a bounty by the State off Florida.
Iguanas same thing.
Hogs are an essential food source but run wild all over the place causing billions in crop damage, you wouldn’t advocate banning hogs would you.
We know smoking tobacco causes cancer and all kinds of other health issues, far more than Pit Bulls, why not eliminate tobacco,
It goes to my essential point, banning one thing because a group of people don’t like them, if using force to control other people, I don’t like that.
People have confused the argument this entire thread, you don’t like Pit Bulls that’s fine, can they be dangerous and hurt people absolutely, a lot of other things do as well, for some reason let’s ban Pit Bulls.
To me this really isn’t about Pit Bulls it’s about using force to stop what other people do, which if not stopped will take away something you care about or I care about in the future.
I am not doing your homework, the answer is out there, dig for it.
“I stood down a pitbull once and he did stop.”
We were out walking our dog one night several years ago when a pitbull came out and charged after our son. Our dog went full protect mode and put herself between the pit and our son and made the pit back down.
Ever since that happened, she’d put herself between us and that house and give a low growl when going by.
You said pit bulls are aggressive and need more training than other dogs, more than you would ever deal with which is why you will “never” own one.
Why do they need more training?
I’m not doing your homework, I’ve answered that question multiple times, look it up.
As your admissions grow about pit bulls being different and more aggressive and needing extra training, it looks more and more like you have been trolling people all day and your bait of comparing them to gun bans was good bait.
So, your saying that are a lot more people killed and maimed by Lab attacks then pit-bull..??
The pit lovers contention that it requires the *right* kind of training and handling to make it safe to be around is a tacit admission that they are indeed NOT safe dogs. Instead of building their case that pits are safe dogs, they destroy it with that admission.
And the control by the owner is iffy, unless someone can prove that their highly trained and regulated pit has always been perfectly, 100% under the owners control ALL the time and the dog NEVER disobeyed a command ever.
Even then I wouldn't trust it.
You’re equating disassociated problems.
Our entire system of government is based upon seeking a balance between individual liberty and public security. And there is no absolute distinction between them, as you suggest.
That said, I’ve never once argued for a ban on Pits. As much as I’d rather ban the idiots who own them, I call for neither exclusion. Instead, I argue that owning these dogs is self-satisfying, anti-social and dumb. I’d say the same for drunk driving, which causes far more carnage than pits.
So what do we do about it: shame the fools who engage in the idiocy and quit defending them.
