Lido missed the boat that day
He left the shack
But that was all he missed
And he ain't comin' back
At a tombstone bar
In a juke joint car
He made a stop
Just long enough
To grab a handle off the top
Next stop Chi town
Lido put the money down
Let 'em roll
He said one more job ought to get it
One last shot 'fore we quit it
One for the road
Lido
Whoah oh oh oh
He's for the money
He's for the show
Lido's waitin for the go
Lido
Whoah oh oh oh oh oh
He said one more job ought to get it
One last shot 'fore we quit it
One more for the road
Lido will be runnin'
Havin' great big funnin'
Till he got the note
Sayin' tow the line or blow it
And that was all he wrote
He'll be makin' like a bee line
Headin' for the border line
Goin' for broke
Sayin' one more hit ought to do it
This joint ain't nothin' to it
One more for the road
Lido
Woah oh oh oh
He's for the money
He's for the show
Lido's waitin' for the go
Lido
Woah oh oh oh oh oh oh
One more job ought to get it
One last shot then we quit it
One more for the road
Lido
Woah oh oh oh
He's for the money
He's for the show
Lido's a waitin' for the go
Lido
Woah oh oh oh oh oh
One more job ought to get it
If the mod could remove the last two words from the title....that would be great. My bad.
What a great decade for music.
One of my favorite songs.
I miss the 80s
Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band.
I LOVED this song in middle school!!!!!!!!!
They gave this album, Silk Degrees, out at college registration.
Along with Frampton Comes Alive, Who’s Next, Tapestry, Every Picture Tells a Story.
Standard issue.

Does Boz Scaggs have a song with lyrics that say ‘it’s a bird sanctuary’?
Boz’s band for Silk Degrees went on after that to form Toto.
Quite a talented bunch.
The video features a very young David Paich (co-writer w/BS) on keyboards (incl solo) and Jeff Porcaro (drums).
Both were teens at the time and getting a reputation of excellent (LA) studio musicians.
In their spare time, they created a small band called “Toto”.
Not a big Boz fan...but Lido Shuffle is a superbly crafted & played song.
I did the DJ thing at my college for all the big parties and Boz Scaggs was on the must play list. :O)
Always really liked that song. Unfortunately, it’s the only Boz Scaggs song I do like. I have a CD of Silk Degrees, but I find myself listening to Lido Shuffle and then changing to another CD.
Ahhhh, thanks for posting. Silk Degrees is one of my favorite albums. Thank God I still have my old stereo and albums. Boz Scaggs is one of the best!
Thanks for posting that. The studio version was already on my personal playlist. I remembered the song from the ‘70s, but like it more now.
I prefer the studio mix because I think the keyboards should be a bit more prominent.
I always thought the lyrics described a drifter gambler type going from town to town, bar to bar, but the video suggests that the gin joints are places where Lido performs.
I also wonder which border was he heading for after Chi-Town. Mexico is a a long ways away, and Canada in those days would be a bit staid for the likes of Lido.
The B side to Lido
Shortly redone by Frankie Valli and later Rita Coolidge

My wife and I saw him in the concert tour for Silk Degrees here at the Fox in Atlanta back in 1976. Probably the best concert I’ve been to.
The video is driving me crazy, though. What is the black guitar Boz Scaggs is playing in the video???
Speaking of … another great Boz Scaggs’ song is Breakdown Dead Ahead and the guitar solo by Steve Lukather is simply awesome! I love Steve Lukather’s playing! He is one of the best guitar players!
