@ggreenwald

On Monday night, Tucker Carlson argued that while all decent people view Hamas' massacre of civilians with revulsion (and only the most marginalized people have praised it), this is not an American war, but an Israeli war.

Ben Shapiro responded here to that argument

It’s not a zero sum answer.

This is fodder for imbeciles that view everything in black and white while life is 50 shades of gray.

It’s Israel’s war! Somehow it will be fought w/o US munitions and intelligence at the minimal.

Meanwhile US energy policy is a driving factor to all war on earth now-yet neither major conflict is our business.

“I like Tucker, but this was an attack not only on Israel, but an American citizens. “

You can’t swing a dead cat overseas and not hit an American, so, no, this was not an attack on America.

I think the matter is a bit complicated. First, anytime Americans are killed, raped, or taken hostage, that’s an active war against the United States. I’ve traveled to 50 countries, and I think in the old days, Americans were untouchable, because people knew that we were backed by the United States. Nowadays, we might be the first to be targeted. It’s on that matter when Americans are attacked, my responses to declare war, and kill the attacker. No mercy.

The complicated part is that there are half a million US citizens in Israel, about 600 in Gaza. I suspect most of all of those are dual citizens, Americans by convenience only. I truly wish, personally, that we did not allow dual citizenship, but we do. Normally, for dual citizens, when they choose to live in a foreign country, they’re not our citizens to worry about.

But I also think that we have to stand up for the barbarity of Islamic terrorism by Hamas. We might not be ready yet to declare war on Islamic Cult and all of its terrorist groups, but I think that Hamas has stepped over the line in a way that should not be ignored, and I think we are wrong to ignore.

Last, I’m definitely not a warmonger, a neohawk, we ready to rush out to war. I am a navy veteran. I have twin 16-year-old boys. So anything that starts now, may likely be going on when they turn 18.

Right now, every last member of Islamic Hamas deserves death. Whether it comes at the hands of a declaration of war, that remains to be determined, but dead they should be.

I generally agree with Tucker, but I part ways here. This really is good and evil. And we should act like we are in a war. If a coalition of Arab nations succeeds and wiping out is real, there would be far-reaching consequences. We shouldn’t let terrorists run amok inside our own country or enter under any circumstance. I’m not saying we need to land marines on the beach of Gaza, but air support, Intel, and aid is very warranted. Islamic extremism needs its back broken.

Personally we should just clear out the 9 million Israelis and all their nukes and subs, move them here, kick out the Somalis and illegals. Napalm what’s left behind. Hell give them a beach enclave in Florida. Have Trump build a replica of the wailing wall and other holy sites…. Done.

It works both ways

I see young Jewish men being recalled from the USA getting on planes to go fight

Thankfully they aren’t cowards but brave warriors

Ukraine and Israel are not our wars and we should be reluctant to fight. But, we know who is right and have a vested interest in helping both out for the same reason. Russia and Islamofascism are the enemies of this country and everyone else in this world. Short of fighting ourselves we should help Ukraine and Israel any way we can.

If we need to declare war on Hamas, then it should be by exporting every pro Hamas immigrant in USA.

Israel’s army is plenty strong to handle the ones in their neighborhood without our help.

It is an Israeli war that we should support politically and with limited military engagement because Israel is killing our enemies as well as theirs.

As a matter of fact, he IS someone important. He tells the truth about things most “journalists” either ignore or lie about. I don’t always agree with him, but he is entitled to speak his mind. I have no desire for the US to get into a hot war, and I hope this doesn’t lead to one. We must support Israel with whatever ordnance they need to fight this.
>A hot war in the Middle East is foretold in Revelation, in which ALL nations will rise up against Israel, including us, but that is after the rapture of the church and the 3½ years of “peace”. Of course, we’re closer to the rapture than we have ever been, and from looking on, things have never been worse, but I’m guessing they can get a LOT worse, unfortunately. God, so far, has been holding back the rapture, in order, IMHO, to give time for as many people as possible to turn to him, though even during the Great Tribulation, people will still be saved, especially the Jews, who for the most part, refuse to believe in the Lord Jesus, for now. God told Abraham He would bless EVERY nation through him. The Jews are God’s chosen people, but all nations includes non-jews who believe on the Lord Jesus, who is descended, in His human form, from Abraham’s loins, will be blessed.

I think Shapiro supports Israel. And I think Tucker supports Israel.

It all comes down to what one means by “supports Israel”.

Does it mean a strongly-worded condemnation of Hamas? The end of monetary subsidies to the “Palestinians”? More arms, ammunition and equipment to the IDF? A near blank check on financial support like we’ve been doing with Ukraine? American personnel as advisors and intelligence sources? American troops or air/naval operations?

Once they tell me what they mean by “support Israel” I can decide whether I agree them or not.

We need to offer limited support, and encourage Israel, but that’s it.

Tucker is telling the truth. We should not be involved in this war. Some of the hostages are Americans but some are Russians too? Not our war—BUT we should turn a blind eye to what Israel will be forced to do in the coming days and weeks. The problem needs to be solved with BLOOD not UN resolutions. It will be an eye for an eye—very Old Testimate. In this day is will be more an eye for a peck of eyes. Make Islam weep like our Crusader ancestors did long ago. Even now King Richard Lionheart is a boogeyman in Islamic folktales.

My dark sense is this the events unfolding right now are dangerous and maybe motivated by the need to do something that makes the existing power structures look like something better than Donald Trump.

Their endgame is to destroy Trump and Tucker is smelling the situation out with what facts he has to offer us at the moment.

We have been told Egypt warned Israel about this attack now we are told Senator Bob Menendez was an agent of the Egyptian government the Justice Department rolling out new charges today.

But getting back to the situation Ukraine is a failed war but during the war Russia and Iran have been demonized as partners in the war enemies of Ukraine.

If Hezbollah and Iran get into this situation then the Ukraianiac coalition may go in headfirst aka World War III.

I read British warships now moving to join the American ones near Israel.

Hamas is mainly a proxy for Iran.

Is all the neo-isolationism actually a complaint about the US fighting unnecessary wars? Or is it about the inability of our elites to use the means necessary to secure victory?

The US deliberately crafted a post-WWII system that was supposed to tame direct great power wars. This is now being challenged by both Russia and China. Beginning with Korea, US elites have consistently refused to use the means necessary to see that our wars were successfully concluded and instead used half-measures, gradual escalation, etc., that have always allowed our enemies to regroup, re-equip and continue fighting until the political cost at home was too great to continue the fight. It's not surprising that Russia and China are now upping the ante and risking a direct confrontation with a much weakened US.

So are we ready to go back to spheres of influence and the possibility of the great power conflicts that produced both world wars? Is that a desirable outcome?
