"Imagine" was an immoral, repugnant song and it was done most beautifully. No one could argue because it put the listener in a naive trance.
Imagine no there's heaven, no hell below us. The white background in the video suggests otherwise.
Was it a call to arms? 'Sharing all the world' and 'I hope you'll join us' is pretty seductive.
I've criticized Lennon enough. Now I'd just like to bring up the effect this has on the voting public who are not into critical thinking. Criticizing a hero of the left is counterproductive and buys us nothing. We have to bring these cloud 9 idealists back down to reality when no one wants to. The song is not a shot across our bow. It's recruitment-an effective one.

It’s ancient, shallow and only dreamers from the 60’s who are dying off now pay any attention to the meaning.

It’s easy to write these types of things when you are a multi-millionaire thinking that you are smarter than everyone else.
I don’t think Lennon was a commie, but he was likely very socialist thinking that the “elite” can run others’ lives better.

Couldn’t criticize him or the song. Reminds me of a more recent messiah who spoke of ‘change we can believe in and justified himself with ‘that’s not who we are’. Then the lieutenants in the government and the MSM do the dirty work.
My friends this is what we’re up against and we have too deal with it. ‘Putting those styrofoam pillars back to the storage lot’ cut them down a notch but there’s not enough of it. I’m old enough to remember the ‘You’re no Jack Kennedy’ stabbing. As I remember Dan Quayle married Marilyn. Too late for our followers to wise up to what’s going on. Paul Ryan let Biden belittle him in his end debate. I can go on.

John Lennon’s Imagine: Communist Atheist Humanist Pinko Fag Theme Song
Psalm 2:2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. 5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

John didn’t try very hard to “imagine no possessions” - if he had, Yoko wouldn’t have a net worth of $700 million.
Mark Steyn had a great take on it a few years ago. Google “Mark Steyn Imagine.” John may have sung “nothing to kill or die for,” but he was donating to the IRA when they were blowing up civilians. “You may say he’s a dreamer, but he’s not.”

"And no religion too..."
What is the purpose of that particular lyric? Is he saying that without religion the world would be some sort of paradise? That's what a lot of atheists think, but they're totally blind to the fact that most genocides and acts of barbarism in this world have nothing to do with religion. And some of them are even a result of this very same anti-religious sentiment.
