It is the United States’ “problem” - but not one in which the USA needs to send troops in.
This is similar to the case with Ukraine - it is the USA’s “problem”, but not one where American troops need to go in.
What about a war between Mali and Togo? Not the USA’s problem.
When is it “the USA’s problem”? When the situation can harm American interests.
Americans have always been skeptical of going to war.
A majority didn’t want to enter WW2 in surveys/polls at the time. (I think!)
