Special Dispatch to the New-York Times.

WASHINGTON, Saturday, Oct. 3.

Such news from ROSECRANS has been received as should dismiss all anxiety for his welfare, and quiet all care for our military supremacy in the South. He is fully equal to his situation.

REPORTS FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.

ARMY OF THE CUMBERLAND, Saturday, Oct. 3.

The present and future prospect of success for this army is not only brightening but at this time is really good. If the enemy now makes an attack, even in very heavy force, he will in all probability be badly defeated. Each day's delay but make our commanders more confident of holding their position. There is no cause for alarm in the matter of flank movements.

The flag of truce sent out by Gen. ROSECRANS was recognized. Our ambulances were driven to the enemy's lines, there our drivers got off, when those appointed by the enemy took the ambulances within their lines. In a short time the ambulances returned with some portion of our wounded. They, as a generality, are very seriously injured.

The whole of Chattanooga is now a hospital, hardly a house but contains the unfortunate.

The enemy still continues in sight. Skirmishing is kept up. The enemy, each time he presses a little too hard, gets much the worst of it.

CINCINNATI, Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Commercial has advices from Chattanooga up to Saturday last. It was estimated at headquarters that the loss in the battle of Chickamauga was, in killed, 1,800; wounded, 9,500; prisoners, 2,500; total, 13,800.

It was the opinion that if the right wing had held its own, the result would have been a decisive Union victory.

The success of Gen. THOMAS on the left was much greater than has been represented in any published account of the battle.

Readers may notice that today’s lead story is identical to yesterday’s lead story. How this happened is a mystery, but not my error - HJS.
