I am looking at relocating to Idaho, I do not have a preference on location, but I would like to be near the forest, rather than the plains. I am more concerned with finding work. By trade I do industrial automation/millwright in food plants. Any suggestions or leads would be appreciated

Boise. 2700 ft altitude. Winters aren’t as bad as you might think.

A beautiful town. Though a bit pricey. The area is growing.

Coeur d’ Alene
I second that.
Mountains, and proximity to Spokane should provide you with the opportunities you desire.

Boise is a mixed bag. It is the state capitol and a university town, but not everyone here is a raving nutter progressive. Lots of Subarus with NRA and Marine Corps stickers in the windows.

CDA - I used to live there - has gotten VERY expensive due to the influx of people from places a lot less congenial than central Washington. My sister, who does live there, sent me this:
Grim housing market in Kootenai County
There's a real estate bubble all over but here it may take a while before it pops. Still, it's a beautiful place.

I’ll be waiting for the answer. Perhaps “Bring your own money” as there aren’t decent jobs to be had. Good retirement spot or vacation home location??

You can’t throw a rock in CDA without hitting a Californicator. Lived in the area ‘95-‘98, and now the population of Post Falls is greater than CDA was then. We’re running out of places to retreat to as the left wing locusts continue to ruin a state and then move on to another to continue the destruction.
