Ivy Tech Community College and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging recognizes October as LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) History Month.
In 1994, Missouri high school teacher Rodney Wilson realized that students were not learning about the LGBTQ+ people or the LGBTQ+ rights movement. After creating Lesbian and Gay History Month, Wilson served as the founder of the first coordinating committee. In 1995, The General Assembly of the National Education Association passed a resolution to commemorate October as LGBTQ History Month. October was chosen to coincide with National Coming Out Day which is October 11.

In acknowledgment of LGBTQ History Month, we have invited guest speaker, Nichelle Campbell Miller, founding President of the Pride Center of Terre Haute to join us on Tuesday, October 10.
They already have June. That’s more than enough.
Didn’t we just finish a pervert pride month a couple of months ago?
I want a national target practice month.
This means another month of disgusting commercials with obamanites and bidenites types.
What would be our loss if we didn’t know about LGBTQ History month? Well, I have lived quite a few years;won’t say just how many, but it’s a lot, & I don’t think I knew about it until just this year. I survived just fine, in fact I think I thrived by not knowing about it coming from a Christian family. Needless to say, I see no reason to celebrate it according to what it is stated to be. The LGBTQ group will have the same civil rights as the rest of us. Sorry if that isn’t enough, but our gov’t. seems to be as much interested in constricting our rights as they do yours. Instead, I think I will be celebrating Pastor Appreciation Month instead.
