Editor's note: On Monday, the FBI joined the search for Charlotte. And here's what we know so far about her disappearance.
MOREAU, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul said it is "every parent's nightmare," after a 9-year-old girl disappeared from a popular New York State park on Saturday night.
State police issued an AMBER Alert, and raised the possibility the child was abducted.
Charlotte Sena has been missing a little more than 24 hours. A massive effort is ongoing near Saratoga Springs to locate her.
Jené Sena beseeched the public for help locating her niece.
"No tip is insignificant, so if anyone has any information at all ...," she said. "She is a blonde, adorable 9-year-old little girl with bangs. She has green eyes, just under 5 feet tall and she is just a sweet, adorable girl."
Charlotte's mother, Trisha, told the Albany Times Union her daughter is a very trusting girl, adding, "I just want my daughter back."
The governor offered an update Sunday after meeting with the missing girl's family.
"As a mother, a grandmother, I cannot imagine the pain they are going through," Hochul said.
The governor's somber demeanor reflected the high concern for the safety of the 9-year-old, who vanished from Moreau Lake State Park, which is 190 miles north of New York City.
Charlotte and her family were camping in an area known as "Loop A." She had been riding her bike with friends and then decided to do one more loop, alone.
Google Street View shows the loop is a paved road that passes through a heavily wooded area.
"Literally 15 minutes later, hadn't come back. That's when the nightmare begins," Hochul said.
State police promptly initiated a search that lasted hours, employing dogs, drones and boats.
Fears were growing that Charlotte was abducted.
"After that exhaustive search, when we couldn't find her, it's quite possible that an abduction had taken place," Lt. Col. Richard Mazzone said.
The governor said work to pinpoint people who might have encountered Charlotte includes specialized technology.
"We brought in tech experts to analyze other forms of communication in the park at that time," Hochul said.
"I really don't want to get into the cameras and technological aspects of our investigation and search, but I can assure you, as the governor mentioned, we are doing everything we can to reunite Charlotte with her family," Mazzone said.
CBS New York was told the family and other people camping at the park searched for Charlotte for about 30 minutes before calling 911 at 6:47 p.m. on Saturday. Police did find her bicycle.
She just turned 9 a month ago. She is a fourth grader who was just elected to student council.
The governor said state police will spare no effort to locate her.
Id like to know if they found the bike? Also, was it her friends who reported that she never came back or Charlotte’s parents called the police when she didn’t return back to the camp site?
Yes, the bike was found in some bushes.................
If an ILLEGAL abducted her...what will Hochul say then?
I pray that I’m wrong, but I’m afraid this will not end well.
>>If an ILLEGAL abducted her...what will Hochul say then?
If that ends up being true, the story will be dropped from every news channel immediately and will never be mentioned by any (D) politician.
Hochul will be on vacation if it happens. The media? CRICKETS.
I want to know if there was a divorced father out there.
A large number of these Amber alerts turn out to be family squabbles.
If they haven’t found her by now...
This person, or persons, if found, should be summarily executed....................
Did anyone hear her scream? Are these “Friends” kids that she knew for a while or just met them at the campground? perhaps something happened and they panicked everything has to be taken into consideration

I am not convinced — yet — that her abductor is human. The area where she disappeared is in the shadow of the Adirondack Park. Lots of black bears, hybrid wolf/coyotes, and rumored mountain lions (although the DEC denies the existence of mountain lions in NY).
I think if she had gotten attacked by a bear or coyotes someone would have heard her screaming
I’m thinking feet first inside a woodchipper.
I agree.
Perhaps, but the “A Loop” where she was riding her bicycle is ~1,500 feet across at its widest point and heavily wooded. If she was attacked by a human, someone would have also heard her scream I would think.
“If she was attacked by a human, someone would have also heard her scream I would think.”
I hope they find this poor child. What a nightmare!
If it was a person they would likely make efforts to ensure she could not scream, but an animal wouldn’t care about that I don’t think.
Bears are very dangerous, know they are not carnivorous, but that doesn’t seem to stop them from attacking people.
A grown man was killed by a bear in NJ a year or two ago. And he was not out in the wilderness, he was hiking in a park with a group of friends. I forget the details but the poor guy was killed.
I am by nature a ridiculous optimist but these stories almost never, ever end well.
“ I’m thinking feet first inside a woodchipper.”
Woodchippers are valuable equipment. Used for such a purpose one needs to introduce the to-be-chipped material very, very slowly with occasional pauses to let them cool down.
