It's 2274, and on the surface, it all seems to be an idyllic society. Living in a city within an enclosed dome, there is little or no work for humans to perform, and inhabitants are free to pursue all of the pleasures of life. There is one catch however: your life is limited and when you reach thirty, it is terminated in a quasi-religious ceremony known as "carrousel". Some, known as "runners", try to escape their fate when the time comes, and it's the job of Sandmen to track them down and kill them. Logan (Michael York) is such a man, and with several years before his own termination date, thinks nothing of the job he does. Soon after meeting a young woman, Jessica-6 (Jenny Agutter), he is ordered to become a runner and infiltrate a community outside the dome known as "Sanctuary" and to destroy it. Pursued by his friend Francis (Richard Jordan), also a Sandman, Logan and Jessica find their way to the outside. There, they discover a beautiful, virtually uninhabited world

Dear Jenny was not shy about sharing her body (sans clothing) with the theater audience, and a fine body she had. For us young men bringing dates to the movies, it was instructive. ‘See! It is only natural! to be in the buff!’

Yes very good.
I tried showing it to my daughter and son in law and they quickly lost interest.
I think the modern gens are overly spoiled with A.I./C.G.I. special effects.

lol Don't see how the book would have ever been filmed in the 70s. In the book, the maximum age before DS was 21, which meant a lot of pre-teens and young teens were cruising for sex and drugs. Of course, nowadays that would be on Netflix and probably get some kind of award.
I loved the movie. It was beautiful, intriguing, and, yeah, hollow as hell at times, but it was something to see.

It was jarring to see how much she’s aged in “Captain America: Winter Soldier”, but great to see she’s still active and acting. But between her and swimsuit issues back in the day this boy had some trouble keeping his mind right.

And she was the nurse who sympathetically housed the cursed boy in “An American Werewolf in London” after he left hospital. Good stuff indeed.

I always got the feeling that LR is a weak rip off of Arthur C Clarkes, City and The Stars I haven't read that but the synopsis sounds good.
Here's another one about cities and the future that I thought was really good.

Sure looks like President Richard M Nixon! Had to be a reason to have that photo behind the subjects of the picture.
What was the reason?

Yeah buddy. Thanks for reminding me of FR's unwritten rule "Talk about a babe you should post her picture". Here I think she's going into grandmahood most gracefully.

>>at the Fort Worth Water Gardens
They had just built the Water Gardens and it looked just like the movie represented it…a big sewer/water treatment site (before they planted the trees).
*A lot of people have died at the Water Gardens from swimming and taking baths before the town got that part of the hazard resolved.
