I hope he plans on parking them in the urban, blue hive areas. Where they can catch on fire and revitalize the areas.

I have no problem with core urban transit being electric buses. They are quiet and don't put out filthy diesel exhaust. I used to ride electric buses in San Francisco in the early 70s, but they used a pantograph to get power from an enormous maze of overhead lines. Every now and then the pantograph would come off the wires and the driver would have to go to the rear of the bus to re-center it to the overhead wires. It was always comical to watch that.

Urban battery-powered buses make a lot of sense. We rode one in Banff, Alberta a couple weeks ago and it had the acceleration and quietness of those old San Francisco buses. The best thing was you could sit at outdoor cafes and restaurants and not have to endure diesel fumes and the huge noise from diesel engines. Here is one of the Banff buses disguised in urban camo...

Should be a great means of transport as hurricanes hit /s

I don’t think there are enough eco-greenies to give DeSanctus the nomination.

Time for deSsntis to stop pretending, NG would have made some sense, but EV just rewards and encourages the scammers. Really bad judgment.

The funding comes after the state received $166 million from automobile maker Volkswagen’s federal settlement case in 2015.

Free money from the thugs of Fed.gov. In this case, money was extorted from VW, who played games with asinine emissions rules created by thug Fed.gov. Usually, its just free money that comes from issuing debt in our printed, fiat currency.

Either way, ALL local government officials are hard-wired to NEVER turn down free Fed.gov money. Its like throwing a deer carcass in front of a pack of coyotes.

This is from 2022 and the money came from a settlement VW had with the federal government. It could well be that a requirement of receiving that monies was to use it for such projects. The buses are also went to urban areas.

I don’t support electric busses, but the information source is over a year old, and dredging it up now reeks of desperation.

While I thought this Presidential pursuit was a mistake and would set him back in Politics, THIS assures his failure to seek and/or win any public office.

This is SO dumb!

So is Florida the only state which received monies from the VW settlement? The article doesn't say. Or if it did, I missed it.

I also stayed in SF once during the late '60's and remember those pantograph buses. They were truly amazing and no one ever questioned the source of the electricity they ran on. That was another era for sure, 55 years ago. How things have changed.

We have NG buses and solid waste contractors who have fleets of automated but not driverless sanitation trucks which run on NG in Tampa already.
