Didn’t “woke” start out as a word Lefties called each other, to show they were enlightened and progressive?
And we were the “non-woke,” or the “un-woke,” and that was an insult?
But then, the “woke” started showing, by their deeds, how stupid and destructive and uncivilized they are. Over time, “woke” stopped being an abstraction of something good, and started being a synonym for something bad.
So now, they want to identify it as equivalent to a racial insult, to get us to stop using it against them.
They’ve done this countless times over the years.
Their “offense” should never be our concern.
The only speech which needs to be protected is offensive speech.
If speech does not offend anyone, it does not need protection.
