Check out the babes sawing away on their violins. Also how Glen turns to the symphony musicians a few times to acknowledge and thank them. How gracious!

Glen was uber-talented.
Someone once asked Eric Clapton who the was the best guitar player he ever saw.
Without hesitating he said, “Glen Campbell.”
Just watch some of his picking closely. No wonder he was part of “The Wrecking Crew” as a studio player for a time.
Thanks! That’s a favorite instrumental from that era.
Really enjoy the original Mason Williams symphony version.
Mason is also responsible for a great deal more hits than “Classical Gas”.

Perhaps the best guitarist I've ever heard play the 12-string guitar.
The guy could definitely play the guitar. I saw him in concert in the 70s when I had a bit of a schoolgirl crush on him, and I was mesmerized by how quickly and deftly his fingers moved over the frets.
Glen Campbell was the reason I learned to play guitar. (Nowhere near as good as he could…LOL)
Damn, that boy could pick...and the only guy I can remember who used the thinline Ovation (though Feliciano used the full body version IIRC).

I have always enjoyed watching Glen Campbell play the guitar. The man had mad skills.
Clips of Glenn Campbell guitar solos throughout his career.
There are also videos from this concert such as Galveston and Wichita Lineman. Great musician and concert.
Alice Cooper said the same thing. Even towards the end, when Alzheimer's began to take hold, "you put a guitar in his hand and he was a virtuoso ..." Most likely muscle memory.
Yes. It is a great concert. I never knew, until a few years ago how great a guitarist Glen Campbell was. Very good “country” voice singer also.
Our son was a violin student of the Concert Master of the SD Symphony. The video also shows off the near perfect acoustics of the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
Glen is always great to watch, but to be honest, Classical Gas is better without the orchistration.
Indeed
My father loved Glen Cambell. I associate his music with my childhood. Now that my dad is dead, I can be absolutely reduced to tears by Glen Campbell songs. “Galveston,” particularly.
I remember seeing a documentary about Glen Campbell after he died. Turns out he was very good friends with Alice Cooper. Close enough to go golfing together almost every day. One day “Alice’s” phone rings, and it’s Eddie Van Halen begging for a guitar lesson from Glen. I don’t remember whether it happened or not.
