How safe is getting a COVID booster and a flu vaccine simultaneously?

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce is arguably the best tight end in the NFL. Recently, he appeared in a commercial sponsored by Pfizer and aired during NFL games promoting getting a COVID booster and a flu vaccine simultaneously, showing two parallel band-aids on his arm, with the pitch being it saves time (“two things at once”). You can see the commercial on his Instagram page. Given Kelce also appeared recently in a Bud Light commercial and is rumored to be dating Taylor Swift, some conservatives are calling him out for triple wokeness.

But how safe is getting both vaccines simultaneously? A CDC-funded JAMA study published July 15, 2022, by researchers from the CDC and Emory University, looked into this very question, recording adverse events reported in the period September 22, 2021 to May 1, 2022 for one week following the injections through v-safe, a self-reporting app, for 92,023 receiving the booster and the flu vaccine simultaneously, compared to 889,076 receiving the booster alone. (Note: the study excluded the 2,647 who got more than these two vaccines simultaneously. All I can say to this group is: “You’ve got to ask yourself one question: Do you feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?”) According to the Key Points:

Findings In this cohort study of self-reported data from 981099 persons aged 12 years or older, simultaneous administration of a COVID-19 mRNA booster dose and an influenza vaccine was associated with 8% to 11% increases, respectively, in systemic reaction compared with COVID-19 mRNA booster alone. These differences were statistically significant.

Similarly, at the end of the abstract:

CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE In this study, compared with administration of COVID-19 mRNA booster vaccines alone, simultaneous administration of COVID-19 mRNA booster and seasonal influenza vaccines was associated with significant increases in reports of systemic reactions...

If you have to ask...

Okay, let’s ask instead, how safe is covid, and how safe is the flu? If you didn’t get the shots, and IF you got sick, do you think you’d recover completely?

Welcome to the fold. I came around in the mid-90s when some of my friends had profoundly autistic children after the 2 year jabs and subsequent illnesses. Perfectly fine before them

They are nutjobs. Vaccines do not cause autism and religious exemptions are claimed just so parents can avoid vaccinating their kids.

Despite your belief that vaccines are a bad idea, the fact remains that vaccines have saved millions and millions of lives. Vaccines have eradicated smallpox and polio for example. I guess you think thousands of children in iron lungs are a good idea.

A woman I work with (she’s all boosted up) has had COVID three times, and currently has it now. She says this third time is by far the worst of her COVID bouts. That’s a heck of a vaccine.

Yep. Soon as I saw mRNA I was on the no way side. Prior to that when the mask, lockdown hysteria started I was telling people the whole thing was a load of BS. Basically couldn't get through to anyone. The panic had thoroughly set in.

The vaxxes are pushed to keep people healthy.

Unhealthy people don’t work as hard. As a result, they don’t pay as much in taxes.

People also die from Covid and influenza. Dead people also don’t pay taxes.

For the government to get more taxes, it needs as many healthy people as possible working.

Follow the money.

"the last vaccine of any kind I took was administered by my pediatrician. Probably for tetanus."

Same. I haven't had the flu since at least the early 90's (and have never gotten a flu shot). The last significant illness I can recall was bronchitis, maybe in the late 90's? I lived in an apartment building at the time, and used to get things like bronchitis and sinus infections from time to time, but those were bacterial, not viral. Haven't experienced either since I moved out of that filthy place.

Who's to say that that isn't happening already with flu shots? Sorry, but I don't trust the medical establishment not to combine the two without telling us, for our own good, of course.

I have never had either type of shot, and will not knowingly take either. I also have never had flu that I can remember, and haven't had even a mild cold since before COVID-19.

My history with the flu shot goes like this.

I get the flu shot, I get sick.
I don’t get the flu shot, I don’t get sick.

I have had covid three times. Nothing more than a bad headcold.

Soon flu shots will not be genuine vaccines because they are working on using mRNA for them. Anybody who gets a flu shot at that point may as well be getting a covid shot.

Nowhere does this study compare the adverse reactions of those receiving Covid vaccine or influenza vaccine separately.

The choice is between getting an influenza vaccine and a Covid vaccine separately and spending a few days recovering from any malaise after each one or getting both together and spending a few days recovering from both at the same time.

This study compares the safety profiles of influenza vaccines and mRNA based Covid vaccines:
CONCLUSION
This pharmacovigilance study has not identified significant safety concerns regarding mRNA vaccination in real-world settings. The overall safety profile patterned a lower risk of serious AEFI following mRNA vaccines compared to influenza vaccines.
AEFI = Adverse Events Following Immunization.

And this study shows that concurrent and sequential administration of the two vaccines is equally safe:
In regards to safety of concurrent administration, we found no additional or more severe adverse events when compared to sequential administration. This study also shows that the all-cause death rate among Covid vaccinees is lower than for the general unvaccinated population. (My own calculations have demonstrated this, as well.)

Just remember that when you make a decision not to get vaccinated because of rampant antivax fearmongering, leftists are rejoicing. They are rejoicing because the more conservatives who die (from Covid or influenza) means fewer conservatives voting against socialists. Fewer voting conservatives means less or no vote fraud is necessary for the socialists to win.

Furthermore, your decision to get vaccinated does help the government. The government doesn't get your tax money if you become too ill to work or even die as a result of your refusal to get vaccinated against Covid or influenza. The government only gets your tax money if you are healthy and working.

I know a few that had it. Out of action for a couple few days like with the flu but that was it.

The irony - and a major dilemma for me - is that I wrote my book’s draft on the basis of the evidence absent any bias whatsoever.

Upon review it was clear that the book was unintentionally anti-government, pro-science and overwhelmingly Conservative tone/content.

That speaks volumes. If/when I ever finish/publish, I embrace the looming critique and assured controversy (as expected from all-too-familiar sources).

Then how to explain this, eh...

September 25, 2023 New York State Officially Repeals the COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate for Health Care Workers

Meanwhile, healthcare professionals who are no longer mandated are still pushing the vaxxes on patients.

Care for a little word of advice? You need to moderate your pitch just a bit. It's just a little too "over the top." You keep going at this rate, and you're handlers are going to replace you with a more sensible sounding AI bot. And then where will you be?

Silly bitch.
