A California school superintendent has been fired just days after his district was ordered to pay $27 million to the family of a boy who was beaten to death by bullies.
The Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education voted to fire Dr. Martinrex Kedziora after a three-hour meeting behind closed doors.
Kedziora had served as the superintendent of the district since 2017 and was ousted on a vote of 3-2, just a week after the district paid out $27 million to the family of Diego Stolz.
Stolz, 13, died in September 2019 days after being punched in the head from behind by a 14-year-old boy and subsequently hitting his head against a pillar at Landmark Middle School in Moreno Valley, California.
The wrongful death suit filed by the family of Stolz was settled by Moreno Valley Unified School District last Wednesday for $27 million and is the largest bullying payout in US history.
The wrongful-death suit was filed against the Moreno Valley Unified School District on behalf of Stolz's legal guardians, his aunt and uncle, Juana and Felipe Salcedo.
Following Stolz's death in 2019, Kedziora promised there would be change that came to the district to prevent similarly tragic situations from occurring.
At the time, he said: 'We have to be more thoughtful, more responsive, more empathetic.
'When you meet with a parent and they say ‘I don’t want my kid to be the next Diego,’ you can say ‘I agree,’ but our actions speak louder than our words.'
Harrowing footage showed him being shoved into a concrete pillar and banging his head, before the bullies continued to rain blows on him while he was unconscious.

And any “diversity/DIE/CRT/neo-Marxist woke staff.
Hog tie all of them and deliver them to the boy’s parents to deal with as they see fit.
In 2021, the Riverside County Superior Court judge ruled that the teenage boys would not stay behind bars, but instead were ordered to undergo anger management therapy as a condition of probation.
After 47 days in juvenile custody, the teens were released into the custody of their parents.
I say four years in prison, all pensions removed and never allowed to hold any public positions.
We wuz kangs!!
I was confused by the video. The article refers to “bullies” in the plural, and to the victim being “sucker-punched,” but I saw one guy fighting one other guy, face to face.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
> bullies who teachers refused to suspend <
Huh? Teachers have no power to suspend students. None at all. That power exclusively rests with the school administrators (vice-principals, principals, and the superintendent).
I taught for decades in an urban public school. We teachers HATED bullies. I never met a single teacher in all that time who would try to excuse bullying behavior. Maybe such teachers exist. But I never met one.
The problem is with the administrators. They get bonuses and promotions when they reduce school suspensions. So they don’t suspend. I’d write up bullying instances, and forward copies to the principal and the school counselor. I’d get back a brief note saying “student was told to behave”.
It was all a big, sick joke. It makes my stomach hurt even now.
I would quietly tell parents to call the police, and contact a lawyer. But few did. I don’t know why. Maybe the family was afraid of further trouble.
Therapy as a condition of probation?
For teenage gang bangers?
Might as well order them to stop using cell phones and to stop masturbating, while the judge is at it.
Former teacher. Was just about to say that teachers have no power to suspend. Believe me, if they did the true problem kids would be gone.
Just firing him is not enough.
47 days in juvenal custody??? They should get the death penalty for murder.
Well, Richard the First was suppose to have been blond.
Their organs should be harvested to help pay the $27M.
The principal and vice principal were directly responsible. They need to be gone too. Why wasn’t this vote unanimous?
When I was in school, boys would sharpen their pencils at the beginning of class and then stab me when the teacher wasn’t looking.
The school did nothing.
Eventually I beat the crap out of the baddest one on the block.
Never heard from any of them ever again.
Their organs should be harvested to help pay the $27M.
Not a bad idea…
