Also a riddle/joke from the Auto Parts Store days. Blonde walks in the store and says she needs 710 thingy. Nobody is sure what she’s talking about and she says come outside and I will show you. Parts guy follows her out and she lifts the car hood and points to a hole in the valve cover and “says it goes here.”

Also a digital calculator thing. Enter 710 and turn calculator upside down.

Years ago I pulled up to a guy at a gas station and his brand new truck was covered in dents from hail.

“Oh man - all that damage! That sucks.”

“Nope - it’s great. Bought it like this from the dealer. Brand new, less than half-price. And a great conversation piece. Especially if I make up lies about it!”

The dents covered the truck, but the paint was still just fine. I suppose he had to put in a new windshield.

No to worry everyone. Soon, old cars will be oulawed. We will all be forced to buy new electric government approved cars wether you want one or not.

People that live in metro areas with auto emission testing already run into the issue of having their cars banned for flunking the test. Rules vary from state to state. Antique cars usually get a pass and older cars don't have to pass new stricter standards. A relative's family had a 15 year old car that racked up the miles. It didn't pass the emission test and the supposed fix was over $5K. They got rid of the car at the end of the grace period.

The rotten democrats are just going to end all gas and diesel by fiat. And if that doesn’t go as fast, look what the democrat party terrorist wing do to oil and gas infrastructure.

I buy older Toyotas. At least 15 y.o. I prefer them with 200k miles for best deals. Ppl seem to avoid them over 200k. I use molybdenum di-sulfide or ceramic in the oil to restore compression and ring performance.

My current Toyota blew the radiator. I drove 5 miles to the house with no coolant in the engine. The engine died when I pulled in the driveway. Wouldn’t crank. That’s when I popped the hood and saw the blown radiator. I had the ceramic oil additive in the oil so I figured I’d find out it how well it worked in the morning. In the morning it cranked right up. Towed it to the shop tho for the new radiator.

TPTB can’t wave their hands and make gas and diesel go away, but they can implement policies that make them expensive to use. California has regular gas around $6 in some areas. If one is look for a car now, they might be inclined to look at a plugin hybrid or EV.

They are great cars. I do something similar but along different lines…well for the last 5 years. I buy slightly wrecked cars and fix them. I’ve decided to drop Fords and concentrate only on Hondas and Toyotas. The last 2 fords I tried were draws (which mean I lost because I don’t get paid for labor as I’m retired from Ed.). I’ve always came ahead on Toys and Hons. That’s how we got one of our daily drivers, a Honda civic. I’ve got a new one I’m almost done with that I’m going to probably keep as my personal vehicle. It’s a 2012 Lexis ES350 with 54,000 miles that I never could have afforded not wrecked. Yet I’m already experiencing separation anxiety as my daily driver is a 2001 Toyota Celica 6 speed manual (216,000 m) and a hatchback big enough to load a new roll of 6ft wire mesh. I’ve driven manuals since I was 16 and I just don’t know….😳. Anyway here are pics of before and now on the Lex es: PS It’s been sitting there like that for 1/2 a month because It took that long to find the headlight…guess how much the Lexus dealer wants for that headlight? $1250.00. An aftermarket one is almost here finally. IMG-8796 71544949577-962-D3-A9-E-96-ED-43-F9-8-F1-B-BFD7408-B5445

Never had a Saab but I have known several people who have had them and heard nothing but good about them. I have looked for used ones but there don’t seem to be any new or used in this area.

She’s a beauty. Mine is white also but has a soft top. I put a Weber carb on it with a manual choke. It runs much better. How much difference did the header make? I assume you are running the 1.3 liter engine.

New vehicles are for stupid people.
New vehicles are extremes rip-offs.

Spot on with both accounts Hate newer POS autos just turning the key on the instrument cluster looks like a video game.

Nothing beats a restored car better quality holds it’s value has style and has updated parts and less cost then a new car and a hell of lot more fun to drive.

More new car bull s**t...Priced for idiots...

Speaking of Toyota, I have a 3rd generation Toyota 4Runner limited 4x4. It's has some of the best lines/design for any year/model SUV. Nearly bullet proof, easy to work on. Mine is virtually new in and out. I'm asked all the time if it's for sale. It's not! I'll never sell this one.

Nice job!

I hit a deer with my 09 Corolla. Needed 2 new grills, hood, 1 fender, 1 light and radiator. Shop quoted me 2700. The parts came out to $900 on ebay. I sold it to a fixer co. (buy, fix, clean re-title and resell) for 2600. Used the money to buy my 05 ‘worn out’ Corolla for about the same amount. The surprising thing in all that was how cheap the parts were for a 12 y.o. Toyota. Another reason for buying prolific, older models. IMO.
