Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said on Friday that he does not "respect" people who are "misbehaving in public and acting like they know what’s right for kids."
Cardona gave a video interview with the Associated Press discussing the state of education in the U.S., including the recent Supreme Court decisions on race-based admissions and President Biden’s attempt to relieve student debt.
Cardona was also prompted to address his past comments saying that public education was "under attack."
"I wonder whether this is something other education secretaries have had to grapple with," AP reporter Collin Binkley asked Cardona.
"I [sic] been in education, you know, about 25 years. Not including the time I was in higher ed as a student. I’ve never seen it where it is now," Cardona replied.
The education secretary explained further that while he doesn’t have a problem with differences of opinion, and it was possible to discuss things in the past, he doesn’t "respect" people who he claims behave badly in public.
"There was civility. We could disagree. We could have healthy conversations around what’s best for kids," he said. "I respect differences of opinion. I don’t have too much respect for people that are misbehaving in public and then acting like they know what’s right for kids."
Cardona went on to say, "Or people that have a problem when we're trying to provide some support for those who are buried in debt complain about a 10 thousand dollar support for thousands of their constituents but are Ok taking over a million dollars in loan forgiveness themselves as an elected official."
"That hypocrisy--I want to call it out at the top of this conversation because there is a team that is fighting for kids and a team that is fighting against kids."

I saw parts of the decline over 50 years ago.
Most of the teachers I had were excellent.
A few were there to indoctrinate, not teach.
We were forced to homeschool our kids 35 years ago due to the incompetence of improperly educated educators.
There are individual excellent teachers scattered around the system, and if you are lucky, your students will encounter them.
The incompetent teachers and administrators, who tend to be leftists, whenever they can will do whatever they can to get rid of the good ones, both over politics and because the good ones make them look bad.

Even at 11, I KNEW Public schools were not up to par.
In this, we find the makings of a violent uprising.
When a government tyrant tells parents they have no rights over their own children, you have the end of civil debate and a call to arms.
Nothing will bring people into the streets like trying to take away their children.

I for one, don’t think I ever heard of anyone complaining about the Department of Education or questioning the Secretary before 1980. So maybe that is when they started
‘misbehaving in public and acting like they know what’s right for kids’.

Seventh grade science fair, about 35 years ago. My son did a study on flies of the world, and the health problems associated with them. He had quite an essay, complete with slides. The winner was one of the teacher's kids, with photos of her dog..
My son was totally disgusted. He never participated in such things again..

This is an absolute and damnable lie. There has NEVER even a time in my 65 years ANYONE could EVER disagree with a leftist and not be called some form of evil. He’s not talking about the fellow travelers he shared the room with all of these years who might have had a quibble about some point of other. No he’s talking about the outraged decent parents who were wised up to the evil these creeps are doing when the response to Covid turned a huge light on them.
