In the war between Russia and Ukraine, all eyes are turning to Crimea again today.
Last week, Ukrainian attacks destroyed Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.
In addition to the attacks on the Black Sea Fleet, the Russian S 400 air defense system was destroyed in a unique operation in Yevpatoria. The latest strikes show that Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s Black Sea Fleet penetrated the defenses and hit the targets precisely.
This renews Russia’s concerns about the vulnerability of the Crimean Bridge. Before Russia could recover from the shock of these attacks and lick its wounds, it was hit again today. While the day started with good news for Ukraine, it was not so good for Russia.
Today Ukrainian Armed Forces conducting one of the most massive drones and missiles attack on Crimea. There were also explosions at Moscow airport and Sochi airport in Krasnador. [**Suspect more Russian saboteur activity??]
Today, the command of the Russian navy was dealt a devastating blow. In addition to the finishing blow, numerous attacks on the Russian Black Sea Fleet have been reported in the last 24 hours. The Ukrainians staged an incredible operation, inflicting on the Russian federation perhaps the biggest loss of naval officers since World War II.
I say maybe because the attack is so recent. Footage of the attack has been released. There are reports coming from Ukraine and Russia.It is claimed that Russian Admiral Viktor Sokolov was killed as a result of the attack on the Sevastopol navy with the Storm Shadow missile.
It is claimed that the Storm shadow missile hit exactly the fleet admiral’s cabin. However, all the details are not yet known. We will share with you the details we can reach about the attack in a moment.
Ukraine managed to destroy a Russian naval base in Sevastopol in Crimea and forced the evacuation of the Russian navy from Crimea. Ukrainian aircraft and missiles also rumbled over Russian targets all over Crimea, including Belbek airport. Residents of many cities report explosions and the sound of flying UAVs.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully hit a command post of the Russian Black Sea Fleet near the Crimean city of Sevastopol. The command post is located near Verkhniosadove.
The Strategic Communications Department of the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in a post on Telegram. According to our sources in the Security Service of Ukraine, the military base was destroyed by missiles that hit the target accurately.
This was a joint special operation carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Air Force and the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Russian generals have designated this base as a backup command center so that they cannot be reached from the main deployment area. The attack was launched after the Security Service confirmed that the enemy fleet commanders were indeed in the military unit.
The enemy manpower and expensive military systems at this base were affected.
The representative of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Andriy Yusov, confirmed that missile strikes were carried out on the locations of the occupiers’ military equipment in Crimea. Yusov promised to provide more detailed information on the results of the strikes later.
So, less than 24 hours after this announcement, Ukraine reportedly struck the main headquarters of the Russian navy with missiles. Footage of the attack was quickly confirmed after being posted on social media. The video, posted on social media on Friday, verified by Storyful and confirmed by The Washington Post, shows smoke rising from the Black Sea Fleet headquarters.

Tell me your understanding of esclataion ladders and strategies to de-escalte wars between nuclear powers? When one side ups the ante considerably under those scenarios [e.g. here, the US] what does the other side [e.g. Russia do?] What weapons does Rurssia have plenty of that hte US lacks. What does the US have plenty of that creates huge vulnerabilities in this regard?
Oh, and in deterrence theory you need to evaluate what vital US national itnerests are at stake here? What vital Russian interests are at stake?
