Central Coast Mom Allegedly Brings Gun to Son’s Football Game, Triggers Talk of Extra Security

A Central Coast mother is accused of showing up at her son’s pee wee football game drunk and armed with a gun; her actions now leading to an emergency meeting to talk about beefed-up security at youth football games.

Salinas police say Alejandrea Rocha, 36, took a gun to her son's game Sunday morning at Alvarez High School. That game was between the Alvarez Titans and the Watsonville Jr. Wildcatz.

Advertisement “You know it’s unfortunate I'm not sure what her thought processes were I don't know anything about her, but I feel bad for the kids, I feel bad for the organizations that were involved in this. The police were called immediately, and it was handled appropriately at that time,” said Brian Johnson, the chief of security for the Monterey Bay Youth Football League (MBYFL).

Police say Rocha was being escorted off school grounds for being belligerent. Witnesses told police she was yelling at her son. While being escorted out, Rocha at one point asked to use the restroom, where police say the gun fell out.

Johnson, who is also the spokesman for the Salinas police department, didn’t know if the gun was loaded.

“There were no threats made to another person … the charges are of having a gun on school grounds, she never threatened anyone, never pointed it at anyone; there was never any immediate danger,” said Johnson.

But the event triggered an emergency meeting Monday night with presidents of each football team discussing tighter security measures. Among the measures being considered — the implementation of a clear bag rule and private security.

Recommended Monterey City Council looks to Fort Ord and Ryan Ranch to meet state housing requirements “Well, it's an unfortunate event you have a parent that obviously made a bad choice, and it's not necessarily a fault of the MBYFL, but we do have to address it. We do have to make things safe… I know the school district is probably going to address it with us, but we are going to take steps moving forward to enhance security,” said Johnson.

Johnson said if any new security measures are approved, they would go into effect for next Sunday’s games.

“...there was never any immediate danger,” said Johnson.”

It wasn’t an immediate danger...but the cops don’t even know if it was loaded or not?

Nimrods.

There were undoubtably a couple hundred more people prepared to defend themselves if necessary. So what?

“This was pee wee football”

I know, I’m just saying that a Patriots fan was beaten to death Sunday night and the behavior at some of the pro games is getting wild also.

Idaho has pretty strict rules about CCW and alcohol use. You don't carry drunk. The mom fails the test of using good judgement.

Sorry, you are going to have to find another example. There was no beaten to death.
