Eastern Oregon, much of it wide open desert and semi-arid, might represent a cost burden to Salem, considering services and road maintenance etc.

And, the good folks there are mostly conservative GOPers with family values.

From a standpoint of ridding the state of costly upkeep and competing "misinformed" political agendas interfering with wokefication and fundamentally changing Oregon into a workers' paradise, shouldn't it make sense to spin Eastern Oregon off and stick Idaho with the inconveniences and incubrance?

From afar, I did not know Idahoans were trending left. We’ve heard of bits of Montana, but not Idaho. How bad is it ?

shouldn’t be surprised, perhaps, with so many moving west, and tons out of California.

Correct....you cannot fix stupid. I am hoping for the day when whole counties leave a blue state, leaving the decrepit blue cities to fend for themselves.
When you think about it...a few cities control the nation.
High concentration of Dems in the big cities turn the whole states representation for Senate, and president to the Dems.
New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, (used to be Miami), San Jose, Phoenix, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, Baltimore, Newark, Minneapolis. Albuquerque, Portland, Seattle....cut them out and off.
Time for red counties to leave the states that are under big city control. Form their own separate states to get electoral votes, and 2 senators.

Why would a leftist want White Supremacists to fix Oregan anyway? Or does she really just want them to pay for her leftism?

During COVID it was so obvious the restrictive measures in the metro area were stricter imposed by Regional Health Boards not connected to a specific municipality.

Consolidating government agencies across county lines is neither Conservative nor Constitutional.

Montana at the state level took a freedom approach on COVID in the end telling employers they couldn’t force people to mask or get the shots.

Montana even banned employers from giving people money to get COVID shots.

Where everyone is white it hardly matters if they actually are white Supremecists. Who can they discriminate against?

"leftist shill 'Leah Sottile'"

No kidding. Take a look at the Board of Directors of High Country News. It is the typical smorgasbord of community organizers, social change activists, lawyers, public policy, environmental reporters, sustainability, community, justice, decolonization people etc. It is a 100% far left crowd.

On the bright side, only staff writer "B. Toastie" specified her pronouns (they/them).

Why is it on conservatives to “fix” what the left has done to Oregon? And, democrats certainly aren’t going to move out of the way and let conservatives take over to implement new policies. The entire article is build on the assumption that the “Greater Idaho” movement consists of nothing but racists. So why would the author want them to stay.

The entire article is a foolish narrative written only to accuse everyone who disagrees with the left as a racist white supremacist. What tiny minds these people have.

Notably, blacks in “white supremacist” Idaho cannot reasonably be considered oppressed or deprived in that they have the highest incomes of any group of blacks in the country compared to other states. Thus if Idaho is dominated by “white supremacy,” it seems that in practice it means that blacks do better. Of course, the most credible reason for the allegation of “white supremacy” is not facts but to give the great mass of ignorant liberals a false but ideologically compelling reason to scorn the proposal for eastern Oregon to join Idaho.

A Trump presidency and Republican Congress could make this happen.

I chose Chubbuck, ID (immediately north of Pocatello) as my landing spot in August 2000. Boise was too liberal for my taste. That hasn't changed. I'm not thrilled with the number of Democrats in Bannock county. That is driven by the union labor from the railroads and students at Idaho State University. It's still better than Boise.

When the name calling begins, you know the left is losing and has no ground to stand on.

I’m sure those in Oregon tried fixing the state. It didn’t work so they are moving to option #2.

It’d be great, but they should also include those of us here in conservative Southern Oregon!

A similar proposal includes southern Oregon to the coast with the dividing line at the Cascades. The lefty part of Oregon would be south of WA, west of the Cascades and north of the counties in southern OR that border CA all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

Eastern WA has made a similar proposal. ID could be a very large geographic area if all of that happened. WA and OR would be small coastal states full of leftists (on the left coast).
