Manslaughter. I hope they get the guy.
Floriduh man strikes again!? Or is he from somewhere else, but really really cares about his fish bait Dolphins? Does he have a winter condo in Florida? But beats up people in Massachusetts?
Just sickening.
Prayers up, for the victim’s family.
Punch someone hard in the face over a team rivalry?
Crazy!
over a game? Priorities
I just don’t understand sports fans. They describe themselves as “we” and “they” as if they were somehow actually a part of the team they are rooting for. My brother in law was Niners Giants Warriors “we” and was drinking all the while. I am fortunate not to give an actual damn about any activity where I am the “we” that pays a hundred bucks so some other “we” can make a hundred thousand throwing a ball around and doing tricks with it and maybe a stick. I have not spent a single minute in 5 years worrying about which group of millionaires is going to beat which other group of millionaires at some silly game.
The man’s wife says she wonders how this could happen but she really knows and the best thing she can do is teach her kids to get fulfillment in life from something other than sports fandom.
About 15 years ago I predicted to my friends that NFL games would become as violent as European football. I observed the change in the crowds from the early 90s when I began going to games to the about 2007 when I made the decision to stay away. The drunkenness of the fans, the f-bombs, the amount of physical altercations all increased 10x in that time.
It’s a good indicator where are society is headed.
I was at the game in 1976 when Lou Piniella slide hard into Carlton Fisk at Yankee Stadium in a Red Sox - Yankees game. Piniella bounced up fists flying, and benches cleared. Greg Nettles pulled Bill Lee off a pig pile a few times, apparently telling him to cool it. When he persisted Nettles tossed him on the ground, separating his shoulder, and effectively ending his career. Lee was acting like a jerk.
There had been ongoing fights and brawls in the stands all during the game, people just punching people for no reason. The Sox fans were worse. I think alcohol was involved here. There were literally hundreds of cops. At one point they dove en masse into bleachers, swinging nightsticks.
Getting on the subway after the game there were people wrestling rolling on the ground, right in front of the cops.
I was at Foxborough for a Jets game, and someone in a bus full of Jets fans from New York poured a beer on the head of a state trooper. The state troopers escorted the bus to state line and told them not to come back. There was a police riot between the Staties and Foxborough police over detail overtime pay outside a Patriots game once. The Staties thought that the locals were poaching on their patch.
What a world.
These stadiums are full of crazed drunk football idiots.
It’s stupid to risk your life
FOXBORO STADIUM IS THE FIRST STADIUM THAT EVER HAD A JAIL AND DISTRICT JUDGE ON THE PREMISES LIVE.
AS ONE WHO HAS ATTENDED MANY GAMES THERE, THE PLACE IS A HELL HOLE..!
WORSE FANS IN THE NFL. EVEN MORE THAN THE EAGLES.
That's a profound statement right there.
Guy didn’t die, but did get the joy of having this happen next to me last night at the MNF game in Pittsburgh...
Looking at the game, turn back around and groups are shouting at each other and scrumming and there is a guy out cold at my feet.....
So much fun. (eye roll)
“He basically grabbed another fan,” Kilmartin told WCVB. “They started tussling around for a few minutes. At one point, another fan walked over. He punched him … and the man just went out. It was pretty hard to watch.”
All we’re doing is fighting each other. Save it for the bad guys. Their day just might come.
Sports geeks, their whole world is watching people run around chasing a ball.
Why would anyone go to an arena sponsored by the man hating Gillette company?
Sounds like he F’ed around and found out. He got got.
It seems two or more idiots at a sporting event had a conflict that ended very badly. Unfortunately, those specific idiots are not alone; there are others.
Me? I'm one who can take or leave sports. I enjoy watching a good sporting contest, particularly during playoffs. But I'm unlikely to stop on a baseball game if I'm channel surfing. I expect the overwhelming majority of sports fans are with me in some sort of middle ground position.
So I cannot help but wonder what is wrong with so many people. No, not the sports fanatics; that one is reasonably obvious. I'm wondering why so many take a story like this and relish using it as a hammer to pummel others who enjoy sports. What is wrong with you that you desperately need to point out that you think your choice of avoiding sports is oh so superior to that of someone else? Mind you, I'm not defending the idiots, but they are a small minority of those who enjoy sports.
If you don't like BBQ don't eat it. If you don't like cigars then don't smoke them. If bourbon doesn't taste good to you don't drink it. But I would appreciate it if you would avoid lecturing me on all of the well known issues of such things just because your superior self avoids them.
Now please excuse me. Since this is America, I have pulled pork, Makers and a Padrone waiting ... and a game is on.
Years ago, My wife and I joined neighbors and took a chartered bus to Jacksonville to see the Jags and Dolphins game.
We had end zone seats but didn’t see much of the action.
About 20 or so Dolphin fans STOOD in front of our group for the whole game.
Many people asked them to “please sit down.” Stadium security asked then told them to sit down and the fans stayed standing. It was a, rare, sold out game so there was no way to remedy the problem.
We left the stadium at the start of the 4th quarter. (thanks Dolphin fans)
Miami is occupied by types that one does not challenge. Rough, profane, slovenly dressed, mean, stupid men that enjoy terrorizing people.
I’ve stopped watching the NFL completely. I can’t name more than a few players.
Sundays are more pleasant now.
