The visitor’s center is built on the site of the McDonald family farmhouse, marked on your map at the north end. Directly east, across Lafayette Road was a field and woods. My ggg-grandfather was captured in those woods on the 20th when Polk launched his attack. He died at Andersonville in January 1865. I was at the battlefield in 2006.
