“””That same incompetent military has killed 10s of thousands of Ukrainians and basically destroyed a country.
The much hyped US Military was in Afghanistan for 20 years fighting goat herders, we left and the goat herders are now back and in control.”””

The difference is that the much-hyped Russian military has proven to be barely competent on the battlefield while the much-hyped American military performed well on the battlefield.

We left because of politics while Russia may have to leave because of their military.

Are goat herders in charge of Afghanistan, after 20 years thru multiple Presidents, the US military could not come up a plan to keep that from happening.

Same thing happened in Vietnam.

This is the classic case of winning the battle but losing the war.

You keep skipping the point, the point was about the militaries, America’s has been the dream of generals everywhere while on the battlefield, and the Russian military is seen as barely competent, after 19 months on the battlefield the world has learned that all the hype about the modern Russian military was fake.

the world has learned that all the hype about the modern Russian military was fake.

And still NATO acts like it is afraid of the Russian juggernaut. We are told that we need to stop Russia in Ukraine or else the fearsome Russian steamroller will take over Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and who knows where else. I don't think the West should be involved in any way until Putin actually attacks a NATO member. Which he won't.

The Russian military might be incompetent, it’s a long way from being fake, 10s of thousands of Ukrainians would disagree with you if they could, but they are dead.

They have just about everything a modern military should have, army, navy, air force, etc., they are firing missiles from the sea and other places into Ukraine with really good accuracy.

They have thousands of pieces of artillery using counter batter radar, they have attack drones and helicopters, etc.

Despite training and billions in equipment from the West, the Ukrainian military has made no meaningful advances against that incompetent military.

That same incompetent military using mercenaries kicked Ukraine out of Bakhmut.

That’s all pretty modern, plus they seem to have the ability to manufacture it.

The same geniuses that said Russia was a military juggernaut are now saying the same military is incompetent and won’t stop with Ukraine.

NATO fears Russia because they should, Russia lives for empire and is currently striving to conquer Ukraine, the Baltics are justifiably terrified, Finland knows Russia and just sought NATO membership, Poland knows Russia and is launching a massive military build-up, Russia currently being bogged down in Ukraine doesn’t solve the future of the Russian drive to conquer nations that are in NATO.

NATO and dozens of other countries are playing a soft role of giving stuff to Ukraine which is a lot less than Russia and their friend China did in Vietnam and Korea.

I said the hype was fake, many of us follow the Russian military and we were gaining some false impressions over the last couple of decades.

Like I said, the same people that brought us the hype and wrong assessments of the Russian military are now the same ones tell us the USA may have to get involved to defeat them.

It’s amazing how the narrative changes when the political goals change.

At first it was the Russians will take Ukraine in days or a matter of weeks, look at how heroic the Ukrainians are and we need to pour billions in weapons into the battle, many bought that propaganda.

Now, the narrative is, Russia is incompetent, yet, somehow the Ukrainians can’t drive out the Russians from Ukraine and the US might have to get involved, because if we don’t Russia could win and then move into other countries, despite their being incompetent.

This reminds me of the Left and democrats, who kept insisting Trump said "Nazis and white supremacists were fine people, too." or “very fine people on both sides”... meaning Nazis are as legit as BLM.

Except, he was talking about those who wanted to stand up for their Confederate heritage, and even added, clarified, in the same press conference: "You’re changing history. You’re changing culture. And you had people — and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists — because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists."

Yet, the Left always forgets this. I had a hell of a time even finding the full press conference on the web, because almost the entire web has scrubbed that right out. Joe Biden even said it "caused him" to run against Trump.

People need to be honest about quotes.

No matter what "side" one is on, dishonesty hurts your position. And also, anyone that disagrees with me--don't ping me back! ;-)

The hype was coming from Russia and while their army has shown itself to be corrupt and incompetent it doesn’t mean they can’t defeat little Ukraine and use that wealth, population, and geography to better prepare for their next acquisition.

As far as narratives go, look at how you post, it tends to switch to drifting and changing narratives.

Not these guys, I think they really are that way, it really is their minds at work.

Probably the largest number of threads related to Russia’s invasion are threads based on Russian propaganda nonsense and fake claims, fake memes, fake quotes, and fake exposes that have to be debunked.

Not even close, post 24 and post 82 were simple corrections to a simple error you made, and both of them sent you off into the wild blue yonder of narratives and wandering topics.

Post 24 and 82 were from you, even after multiple people pointed you were wrong, you’ve kept going, remember you were the one to take the first shot in this back and forth.

We can keep going, but I will keep reminding you that multiple people pointed out you were wrong.
