The devastated father of one-year-old who died from a Fentanyl overdose at a Bronx daycare held back tears as he told DailyMail.com that it had been his son's first week at the center.
Nicholas Feliz-Dominici was identified as deceased toddler who was one of four children to ingest fentanyl while being cared for at the Divino Nino Day Care on Morris avenue in Kingsbridge on Friday afternoon.
The boy's distraught dad, Otoniel Feliz, 32, appeared teary-eyed as he spoke outside his apartment, just a 15 minute walk from the Morris Avenue childcare center.
'It was his first week,' he said. 'This was his first week.'
Otoniel, who said he's a father-of-five, moved to the United States in 2018 from the Dominican Republic before moving his family to the apartment close to Divino Nino Day Care in 2019.
He and his wife, who asked to remain anonymous, went to the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center to find a suitable daycare for their son Nicholas.
As they waited close to a year to find a suitable place to care for the young infant they were grateful to hear that Divino Nino Day Care could help them.
'We had a good recommendation. We were told it was a great place. It looked like a nice place,' he explained.
But within one week of being cared for at the daycare, Nicholas ingested fentanyl - a substance that has caused a spike in overdoses across the U.S.
A heartbroken Otoniel said they'd been given a tour of the daycare the first time they dropped their son off and it looked like any other, with toys and kids' furniture inside.

The minders were dopers.
RIP little one.
Prayers for mom and dad.
I bet Brandon won’t ask flags to be lowered to half mast, because doing so is just an antigun propaganda technique. Except for dignitaries, other deaths don’t matter. Just “gun deaths” - and only particular ones of those.
Omg, I don’t know how they go on. What a beautiful child! I would be beside myself with depression.
“I would be beside myself with depression.”
Not me. I’d be going hunting.
L
Depression might cause me to go hunting, too. It wouldn’t rule it out.
There’s a story in the NY Post that says the cops found almost a KILO of fentanyl at the location.
Isn’t that enough to kill thousands?
“Omg, I don’t know how they go on. What a beautiful child! I would be beside myself with depression.”
It would destroy you if you had no faith to rely on or no trust in God to reunite you with loved ones on the other side. I have a neighbor that lost her adult son to a seizure after falling and hitting his head in his kitchen back in 2018. The very next year her adult daughter died from a heart attack while visiting from Virginia. She still has one adult daughter remaining, but if she and her husband were not fervent Christians, I honestly don’t see how they would have survived it.
It won’t bring his son back, but I hope he sues that place into oblivion.
I hope some will understand what I am saying here.
I feel for the parents, but if they are believers, I hope their extreme sadness is quickly turned to peace in knowing God has purposes for each life and little Nickolas fulfilled his God given purposes.
Hopefully that will be to see some sort of justice in a worldly sense but moreso to change hearts toward need for Jesus, be it people reading of this story, or the people who brought the drugs in or family members in losing such a young boy in a seemingly so senseless way. God knows what may be the many good things that can come from this or any tragedy.
If we are to be firm believers, then even in the midst of heart ache we are to trust in His plan even though it makes no sense to us at all in the moment. I know intolly it’s difficult, but I do hope these parents are believers and lean on Jesus fully.
God has been very good to me. If He had wanted to punish me in this life for my many sins, He might’ve taken one of mine from this Earth before now. He is merciful, however, and I’m blessed to be a grandma now.
The pain in the fathers face brought me to tears.
They were enabled demonrats. The party of no morales, no right, no wrong, no truth leads to death. Keep voting for them. It’s not like the Republicans offer anything’s better. We will have to take this country apart one bore one office at a time. The pendulum against permissive morals will end. The problem is it ends in a roar.
My heart goes out to the dad, who lost his fine looking little man. Truly devastating.
I hope for that, as well. They have a hard road in front of them, though. They will need good counseling.
Pity the Bronx!

Well, good for you, but... I don’t believe that God takes the lives of children to punish the parents. Maybe to save the kids ‘from’ some parents or for some other mysterious reason. The children, being innocent, are in Heaven, so they’re in a much better place than we are in.
When adults die too soon, I call it “early recruiting” for guardian angels. It may be that more are needed up there to help us down here. At least, that’s what I “choose” to believe.
That’s totally whack! Beyond livid, whatever that is.
Prayers up.
The feminists once wanted government provided childcare-still do. You see with the government providing it these things won’t happen.
