X-Files and Twin Peaks. Good shows back then. 👍

I think they needed the series to rehabilitate the FBI after Waco

I never watched the original run until toward the end of the series.
A couple of years ago I watched the entire remastered widescreen series.
Some entities are doing good jobs of remastering some of these ‘small screen’ series.

Gillian Anderson has been one of the best things to happen in my lifetime. She was only 25 years old when she started on X-Files.
Some of the CREEPIEST TV I’ve ever seen - not HER fault - she was just investigating it, LOL!
She was just AWESOME in ‘The Fall.’ If you missed that, treat yourself. Well, it’s really not a ‘treat’ - serial killer show - but superbly done.
Gillian needs to buy her sweet self some new shoes, have a ‘Sweet Night’ and make some more episodes of ‘The Fall.’
I LOVE her in ‘period pieces’ as well. Her acting creds are solid.
Duchovney? Meh. One-dimensional.

I watched a few episodes when it originally aired, but not many, same with the outer limits.

I thought the episode with Burt Reynolds was excellent.

She was awful in Northanger Abbey, and her Miss Havisham in "Great Expectations" was borderline unwatchable. She could have at least brought herself to wear only one show, like the REAL Miss Havisham.

I loved this series. One of my own design projects was mentioned on the show. Another strange coincidence involved a building drawing from the 40s with cryogenics in the title block.

She was so hot in those short office suits with the white stockings, lol. An 80’s corporate look.

Loved it early on, watched sporadically later. I thought it was a well written and acted show. Loved Scully.
One of my favorite episodes was the one where they were in basically Gibsonton, FL w/ a bunch of retired circus and freak show performers.
Having been to Gibsonton, they nailed it.

To this day, "Home" is the single most disturbing hour of television I have ever witnessed. That is not an exaggeration.
Pure nightmare fuel.

To: Dr. Sivana
I thought she was great as Maggie Thatcher in ‘The Crown’ and also in ‘The Crimson Petal and the White.’
Liked her in ‘Bleak House’ as well.
But, YMMV. :)

Oops. I got my period pieces mixed up. I was thinking of "House of Mirth", her portrayal was appropriately tragic, but not inspiring sympathy. I think X-Files is probably her level, not "Masterpiece Theatre"-type fare where she can't meet the level of the story's characters. As a counter, another ex-"spy", Diana Rigg, put in a creditable performance as Lady Honoria Dedlock in the BBC "Bleak House".

Oh no! She played Lady Dedlock?! I was just pointing out that Diana Rigg handled that challenging role just fine. Dickens and Wharton are out of her league, in my opinion.

My wife and I are both big fans. I have to smile remembering the early days of the series. We lived in a rural part of the county that did not get cable. The only way I could get Fox was to put an amplified portable antenna on some boxes stacked on a stool on our porch and run the wire in to the TV. The signal was poor and 3/4 of the episodes seemed to take place in the dark. We both are lucky not to have developed permanent squints. The Clyde Bruckman episode with Peter Boyle was an especially good one.

I have a suspicion that the series supplanted subliminal messages in those of us who binge watched it- what that message is? I dunno- but the truth is out there somewhere
