I would think that New Mexico would be well to the south of the habitat for moose.
A whole lot of NM is above 7000 ft. And cold and snowy.
They wander down from Colorado. This one was especially far south though. Down in Southern NM we’ve had Jaguar sightings. That’s diversity for ya.
My thought as well. Just got.back from there on Saturday, sure did not look like moose territory to me.
Small, but stable, population in southern Colorado. Toung bulls wonder down fairly frequently.
So do I - maybe they are migrating south because of global warming…

Well NM does have squirrel, so there’s that.
The Moose was here for the Hatch green chilies.

they would jump the 6 ft. fence and trash his garden
