A whole lot of NM is above 7000 ft. And cold and snowy.
Moose could probably survive in the mountains of New Mexico, but I didn’t think they ranged much farther south than the Wyoming-Colorado line.
That’s why I prefer 5500 feet in the Four Corners. Hot and dry.
